Anybody still use a Pull Cart?

Recommended Posts

I am a walker and prefer to carry but alas I am getting older. I recently picked up a mint condition Browning Spartan pull cart. Its very well made and just couldn't let it go to the trash. I have read the pros and cons of pushing vs. pulling but I used pull carts when I first started playing and thought they were fine. My playing partner uses a Clicgear pushcart and the few times I tried it it just seemed to big and cumbersome. Just wondering if many people still use a pull cart or any other opinions on pull vs. push? Any pics of some cool pull cart set ups would be nice!

I have two old Bag Boy 2-wheelers in my basement that I bought maybe 30 years ago. I don't have the heart to throw them out but they don't come close to competing with my Clicgear 3-wheeler.  First pushing vs pulling is much easier on my joints.  It balances better when parked on uneven slopes (plus has a brake).  Finally great storage and ergonomics.

Had a push trolley for about three years, in truth it was more trouble than it was worth, heavy, cumbersome, and made me look like I was pushing a baby around the course, it was nick named 'the pram'. Now gone to a pretty cheap, but light pull trolley; easier to pull than to push, and packs away very small in the car, visually it's way less offensive too.

I haven't seen a pullcart on a course in many years, always pushcarts these days. The last guy I played with regularly who used a pullcart was a cheapskate, his pullcart was probably 30 years old and pretty beat up with very wobbly wheels. It finally broke to the point of being unfixable despite his continued duct-taping and crazy-gluing efforts, so he replaced it with a used pushcart.

I use a push cart and won’t look back. It allows me to walk the course without humping a bag on my back.  I have used the older style 2 wheeled pull carts which work fine as well. That being said, 3 wheelers are more ergonomic, adjustable, have better storage options/accessories, have breaks, and roll better due to better designed wheels. I have a bag boy model and a sub mountain model. Both work equally well imo.

Pull carts are just silly. Who wants to walk 7 miles with their arm yanked back behind them? I’ve tried it. I didn’t make it 2 holes before I was sick of it and my hand was numb. The ergonomics of a pull cart are seriously dangerous, long term, to your shoulder, rotator cuff, and neck vertebrae.

Push carts are easy on the body. They are the standard in the US.

I’m really surprised someone would still be hung up on the optics of a push cart. This isn’t 1997. For walking: push carts > carrying > pull carts.

If we wanted to do a debate, 3-wheel vs. 4-wheel carts, that would be doable. But push vs. pull, the right answer is push. And it’s not close.

The use of Trolleys is huge. MY daughter wants one she loves to walk but want to be able to carry all her stuff for tournaments and matches in one place without all of it in her bag.

I know with covid trolley's were back ordered cause of the desire for them.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
