So I was catching up on F1 news(and this does go back about a week), but good lord, whose wife did Mario sleep with?  Every time they ask something of Andretti in order to join the grid, and they do it, the goalposts get moved.  It's really looking like this is personal now.  Latest is that even though GM was going to partner with AAS, some behind the scenes people with F1(can't recall if it's FOM or FIA-whichever Domenicalli is head of) were going to GM and trying to persuade them to partner with another team.  Holy crap!

Also the fights this weekend were really good. I agree with Max that the sprint format spoils the race because you see who has the pace on Saturday while you can't always tell with just quali.

I see the LV race has a 10:00 PM PST start time. A great way for F1 to treat their North American fans. I won't be tuning in at 1:00 AM EST. Now, I get to watch the race on DVR the next day. Just like all the European and Asian races.

They have virtually no North American fans compared to the rest of the world LOL. One race a year where the start time might be better for people in Europe? I think we'll survive.

I agree there, it's extortionate. In the UK to go Silverstone it's easily into 4 figures for a decent spot. Crazy.

Yeah, a buddy spent $5k to watch Miami. The wife and I figured we could do Monza for less than $10k it would totally be worth the trip. Do a week with a little bit of racing in-between.

Haha, NO WAY i'd pay that money especially this season! maybe a few seasons ago it'd be worth it. I think I'd rather go to Augusta to watch the Masters for that money rather than watch Max get P1 in qualifying, sprint race and the main race 😄

Yeah, but you would still be in Georgia vs Italy. I have no desire to go to Georgia, even for Augusta.

I went over for the Ryder Cup so just missed Monza but I think you could do it for much cheaper than 10k.  Our 2.5 weeks there, including airfare, was cheaper than going to the beach for a week around here (East Coast/Outer Banks). If you do AirBNBs - which we love/prefer - you'd be amazed at how cheap it can be. And their train system makes it so easy to get wherever you want to go. Do it!

 

We are definitely thinking of getting to Monza at some point.

Georgia has some amazing places to go on vacation - see the RSM this weekend. But Augusta isnt one of them LOL.

I swung through Augusta while on vacation and was shocked at how bad it was...

 

But a week in Italy and catching a race at Monza sounds incredible

As far as the Vegas race goes... I'll watch it on DVR when I wake up and I hope it isn't as much of a train wreck as I think it's going to be

Yeah, the upside down pig track layout seems pretty basic. It's supposed to be designed for overtake opportunities with the crazy long straights, but Max kept smacking the walls in the simulator, so it could be a hot mess.

They, supposedly, are trying to increase US fandom. Hence 3 GPs in our country. Let the rest of the world be inconvenienced a couple times a year. They have 19 GPs in Europe and Asia, but only 5 in North and South America.

Absolute FAIL by Vegas. Typical glitz and glamour but overlooked the simple, yet major things like a frigging man hole on track 😄 nice try Vegas, the pre-show routine has overshadowed any form of racing, as we expected it to.
