Equipment for Streamsong

Hi folks…heading to streamsong in about a month. Yes, I’m probably over analyzing but anyone have any recommendations on which equipment would be best for the course conditions specifically for around the greens and which wedge bounces/grinds may be best.  Of course there could be various types of lies but are fairways around greens pretty tight and firm which may not be best for high bounce? Is bunker sand super fluffy, firm with little sand or somewhere in the middle. Is the rough thick that may benefit from more bounce? Thanks!

Bermuda rough and its pretty well manicured.  I’d say low or mid bounce wedges.  I have played it 3 times and it’s always pretty firm and fast.

Rolled leading edge, back relief,  lowest bounce...ball will sit down in a very tight fashion . It's winter so Bermuda is dormant

I just ran my usually S grind 54*10 and X grind 60*12. No issues there. Honestly, off the green you can putt often if you want. Enjoy it. Beautiful place.

Not necessarily Bermuda this time of year. If they overseed in winter then their rough will be rye. When you see lush, green at the player's champ in March, it's because they overseed with rye. Totally different grass than bermuda.

 

OP, don't overthink it. If you have multiple bounce wedges then bring them and get 15 minutes of practice time in to see which works best.

No idea. Too far away for me to drive to so I haven't played it. But the same principle applies...if you have multiple bounce wedges then bring them and get in a practice bunker. It'll take you 30 minutes to determine which wedge bounce to play...

 

No one can tell you what will and won't work. If you are a capable enough player that different bounces help or hinder your short game then you know that feel and bounce/leading edge performance is 100% player dependent...you gotta get reps in on their practice facility...

The sand is weird. It’s heavy/dense and grainy. Opposite of light and fluffy. It’s also deep. Just hit the practice bunker before you go out.

I don’t find it much different regarding my wedge needs than other Florida courses in the winter.  Low bounce 52 and Mid bounce 58 with heel relief.

Yeah... if they've overseeded with rye it is going to be a very different playing surface than bermuda.  On the courses I grew up playing in the Tampa area I often found that the rye was "sticky" at times and a wedge could get caught up in the grass while chipping.

Yep, very sticky but very playable when long. Much easier than 4 inch Bermuda in august.

 

But rye can also be very tight when cut short and no rain. As it gets dryer over winter, I shift to a lower bounce 60.

It’s been dry and above average temperatures in December. Course should be playing fast with tight lies. It’s tough to get clean pitches with a low bounce 60°. I’ve found a medium bounce and almost punching it out seems less prone to error. 
 

I played last weekend and wrecked a couple of holes with thin pitches.
