First release from Weston. Named the Highland. Released 6 pieces just after the new year and was lucky to snag one.

I didn't see what he listed those for but he's probably the right guy to do a Tiger copy with his love of Scotty putters.

As an owner of one of Weston’s recent creations I can attest to the quality of this head.

 

First time rolling a putter in the 330 range and I have been pleasantly surprised. Feels balanced at 35”, with a PP58 grips installed.

 

Feedback is exceptional. Undoubtedly a result of the smooth face and head shape.

 

Really liked the rolled top-line, sight dot and softened bumpers. 

The lines are eerily familiar.

 

Weston was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Haven’t had a chance to roll it yet - waiting on a PP58 to be delivered to do so. Very excited.

While I do love a clean putter, I have the urge to either get a stamp set myself and toy around or send it out for some work. Weston doesn’t do any stamping of his own, the logo on the face is milled.

The putter is clean with nice lines. Unfortunately  for you, you picked the 1 putter that doesn't have stamping or design options.

I don’t find it to be unfortunate at all. I can get a clean head, test it and if I like it…then I will put some customization into it. 
 

I have had customs from everyone under the sun - most are limited into the stamp work / finish work they provide OR charge a 300% premium on it. This way I can decouple the process and send it off to someone who only specializes in that kinda stuff.

Very true Bobby.

 

But you are in the large minority of people who could customize a putter at home. Most people including myself don't do much more than paintfill.

A Bellum Winmore putter taught me that my lag putting with a 330ish putter head is better than anything else I've tried.  Give the light-weight head a chance!

I just saw one of these for the first time, being sold new at the 2nd Swing in Delaware. I was completely shocked when I saw it in the case, had never heard of it before, and if it didn't have a sight line/was carbon steel, I probably would've purchased. Are carbon steel versions available? And do they customize? I'm very intrigued.

Because they both mentioned it and they won't obviously give the shop away but a CNC shop in Utah.

Yeah, they’ve posted publicly in addition to responding to DM’s about this. Exact same head shape, same materials, from the same source.

Not unless you're willing to pay multiple times over retail for one because you're paying for setup and time on the machine. 

 

Weston and Kingston will bulk order say 100-200 heads at a time to drop cost. But again why would they give the shop away?

There are only a handful of shops in the Salt Lake valley with the machinery to manufacture heads like these, so I don’t think it would be too hard to find the shop that does the work, but they’re just one part of the supply chain. There are issues of scale to consider that were mentioned above. On top of that, I think Weston created the design (obviously with lots of “inspiration” from familiar heads—that’s not the point of discussion here haha), so the shop isn’t in a position to sell blanks directly to consumers, even if they wanted to. Not 100% sure on that one though

That's what I thought of after as well if the design isn't the shops which it isn't they probably won't be willing to sell someone else's work without permission from the creator and I doubt they would as well.

Hudson Made sells blanks of an actual original shape (I understand nothing is original but it at least his real own flare)

Weston posted these stories yesterday on his Instagram. Weston's main concern is that somebody is ripping off his putters and selling stuff with his name on them even though they aren't his. I feel awful that he has to work through counterfeit products with his name on them. That's gotta be a nightmare.

 

 

 

 

The second (more interesting) part is that you can apparently find blanks from China that look like this:

 

 

 

Extremely close to his design...it's tough, but at the end of the day, he wouldn't be here if he didn't slightly adjust somebody else's design and then sell it as his own...it's an interesting situation. To be clear, I don't think someone should be selling a "Weston putter" that looks like a "Weston Maughan Golf putter" with the intent to deceive and make people think they're the same thing.

Obviously bad when people end up with fake product, but when he talks about hours creating this design, I can't help but roll my eyes a little. I mean, he straight up copied Tiger's putter.

To be fair CAD absolutely can take hours to do.  Directly copying something is actually trickier than making something similar.  Though not sure he’s the one doing the cad
