TM Stealth face issue?

I found the same thing with mine. Was hitting mine and the guy next to me was hitting his. We compared. His definitely did not have a sharp lip. Took mine into shop to compare with the demo. The demo had a lip, but not quite as sharp as mine.

I'm not sure if it's too bad of an issue, but definitely a quality control thing.

I'll see how it hits on the course. With limited flight range balls it seemed fine. Sounded and felt fine, so I'm sure it's good.

Do TM drivers have more issues than any other brand?

I have no data to back it up, and I'm just one guy, but it seems at ranges and when I do get paired up, TM dominates the driver market.  When you sell more, you're naturally going to have more fail, but I dout their failure rate is any different from any other manufacture.

Exactly. IMO most heads out there likely have a fairly similar failure rate with maybe a few outliers here and there. But you sell 10x than a competitor and there will be 10x more failed drivers out there driving an inaccurate perception.

And the carbon face is really under a microscope, at least on this site.

When I was working at a driving range doing repairs and from my own basement shop, it just seemed like I get way more TM stuff and saw way more with defects.  Lots of reasons why that could happen and I can't argue with your logic.  I guess seeing so many with issues is the reason why I never even bother with TM in my own bag.

I'll just add to this thread that I have had the Stealth in play since the day it launched. I have used mostly decent balls, not a big range rat...but I cannot find a single mark on this clubface 2 months in after many rounds. Not even a tiny rock speck. Nothing. So for anyone worried about durability, don't be...There may be the odd manufacturing tolerance escape like this. But I have not heard of faces getting destroyed or caved in.

I just got my Stealth 2 weeks ago and hit ~200 balls with it at the course and the range. Today I was at the range and I heard a loud crack when I hit one shot. It’s very strange to hear that when the club is the softest sounding driver I’ve ever used. I continued to hit a few balls after the fact and they were all over the place. Very erratic and and my ball speed dive from 162 mph to 145 mph. I looked down and discovered that the toe side of the face had come completely out of the frame. I was a little baffled by how that could have happened. Took it back to the Dick’s I bought it from and they had to send it back to TM. Hopefully I get one that will actually hold up for thousands of hits and not a couple hundred.

Maybe that is why D.J isn't getting along with his driver as of lately

Thanks for (some of) the replies.

There isn't plastic on the face - it's just the way the finish looks in that spot.

The sharpness and depth of the difference between the face and the body is very different than the other ones I looked at today at the store. Just wanted to know if others who have the club have seen the same thing.

To be clear, I suspect that this is a manufacturing defect not a durability issue - certainly not due the club hitting, even poorly, the ball. I'm happy to hear that some of you have never hit a bad shot. I've submitted a ticket to TM and we'll see what they say. I really do like the club so hopefully they will help sort this out.

Hi - what ever happened with this issue as I just unwrapped my new Stealth 2 driver only to find the exact same aspect, that being the bottom of the face is not flush with the black titanium driver bottom.  That edge is fairly pronounced and sharp.  I’m thinking a manufacturer defect possibly?  Thanks!

Did you bother getting this sorted at all or just accept it? I'm on my third Stealth 2, all of them with faces partially sticking out along the heel or toe with this sharp lip shredding plastic tees on all three, due to face set inwards along the bottom.

Wtf is going on? Why is it so difficult just to get a face that's fully flush all way round?
