Why do parents travel and enter kids who can't play.

I have never seen a kid max out to 180 in any US Kids events. However i have seen plenty have horrendous holes in 1 day events that might have had to put a 20 down if they didn’t have a max on the hole.

Usually in a 2 day event you never anyone get more then a triple and even then they get few pars here and there.

I've seen close on 9 holes Few 80s. To use your line why would you sign up your kid if they cant break 120 for any event uskg including. That's how it should be right?

Tournaments are for players who shot 75 or better. Until a kid (or adult) player hits that skill level the practice range is the place to be.

Couldn't disagree more. If an adult takes up the game of golf at age 40 and joins a country club, they shouldn't play in their member stroke play tournament or other events because they can't shoot 75? If that is the case, all member events wouldn't be able to fill out a foursome at the majority of clubs. On a junior golf scale, kids can't enter an event and see where the state of the game is under tournament conditions? Middle/High school golf wouldn't exist in this case. Is this just shoot 75 once in your life or on a consistent basis? Being that you're a 2 handicap, I am assuming you don't shoot 75 very often, so I guess you're not playing in tournaments. Kids on the basketball team join the team to just ride the bench all season long and never play because they can't shoot 50% from the 3-point line. Why do you believe in this opinion?

these kids show when you have large fields at disney courses and few others resort courses.

so you are looking at HJGT, Top50 and even peggy kirk a few years ago when they did disney.

I only mentioned FJT because there cheap and sometimes kids enter who shouldn’t.

Fields can get quite large for girls sometimes 40-50 girls which for girls that a big field.

Usually top half the field is very good. you have to go under par to win.  The girls at the bottom are usually not very good and some cases just picked up a club in the last month.

If you have boys you might not even bother with these tournaments because the you can get large fields elsewhere. .

I know one issue i have seen is HJGT has a new tour director and intentionally pairs the worst kids because they believe it will speed up round.  They used to pair kids somewhat on tour status.  If they keep that up there going to lose those large fields.

The downside of these events is you always have a few kids that should not have entered.  Some downright can’t play while others just don’t care and rather spend the day at a theme park.

obviously the Answer is to do AJGA and other invitationals but you need experience playing large fields to get there.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're saying and I apologize if I am, but I just went and looked at different 2 and 3 day events on HJGT in Florida that have happened in the past 2 months and 90%+ of kids are breaking 90, with only a few in the 90's or low 100's. A few girls in the 110's for one day, but in the low 100's the other rounds. This doesn't seem like a problem. It feels like a normal bell curve

I've known too many kids traveling long distances to play tournament after tournament. Their golf skill development is harmed by too many tournaments and not enough technique learning, practice. For adult handicap players  net tournaments are good.

It isn't a problem to anyone who thinks logically, it is a problem for him because it is something else he can use to try to justify not getting what he wants or things not working out the way he thinks they should.

Yes but the problem EVERYTIME they get paired with Tiger even if the girls are in fact 18y old boys 😄 he has to suffer all the time cause these bad parents let their kids struggle...

I wish someone would just close and delete this thread, its so discouraging for new parents who might google junior golf and find this forum and read this bunch of nonsense (thats how I found this forum, so in Tiger words everyone dose it like that)

Please just let kids play even if they have 180.. tell your kid to go to the kid who is struggling and motivate them (thats at least what I do) shout good shot if they do a good shot and help them to come over this round, instead of writing this sh*% here

Actually, I take the opposite view because this thread Tiger has been thoroughly disproven, shown for being completely out of line, and had the internet message board equivalent of a curb stomping so it should be encouraging to parents that even though you have the occasional delusional parent out there the vast majority of us are level headed and want to see kids succeed. I mean, dude has not had one voice of support in this entire thread. Do you know wrong you have to be to not get one person backing you on an internet message board???

Yes good point of view, you have to be very wrong 🤣 but just the header alone is not really helping, yes i agree as soon as people read here they see there are normal parents as well.
edit headline to Travel or whatever.

This is absolute nonsense.  JGS the #181 female in the country with a -2.35 scoring differential and is attending Cal next year averages 77.03.  I just picked this random person to prove a point.  Only 5% of all golfers can break 80.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

I don't want to bring his daughters into this, just not cool in my opinion, but no matter what he is so wrong on all of this that hopefully people see how many went out of their way to call him out for what he was saying.

Talking about a parent is one thing.  Talking about their 11 year old is another.  This comment was inappropriate.
