Artisan upcoming irons

Just got mine earlier this month and have put them in play during this holiday break and couldn't be happier. The build quality, feel and performance is outstanding. Turf interaction, shot shaping and distance control is the best I've seen from any previous set of irons I've owned. My iron ho'ing days have come to an end. Definitely worth the fitting time and inve$tmemt IMO.

From the looks via pictures, can someone share how different the sole widths are between the models? Also, anything particularly different within club heads that makes it noticeably different? Seems like the MB is more forgiving in shape/size than other big OEM blades?

I can only speak for the MB. The blade length is longer as Tiger preferred it that way so it would be harder for him to turn it over.

I finally get mine tomorrow so can compare to Blueprints then.

I am heading down to meet my friend who has my Mb's tomorrow and playing at Gullane with him.

Now, do I use my new irons or just keep them for the Spring. I am learning towards the Spring.

Use them, they're so good! Put mine in play last Tuesday, and shot the best scores of the year this past Saturday & Sunday, and carried the hot streak into the new year yesterday as well. I've never hit anything that feels as wonderful as these forged irons. I'm not sure why people would sleep on getting a set. Trust me, figure out how to get it done and you'll be very very happy!

well just back from 6 hours driving for a round of golf and get 6 irons!

I only hit them 5 times as we played Gullane no3(guessing 5300 par 68)

9 iron

8 iron twice

7 iron

5 iron

So far feel is different to my blueprints.

I was swinging well and the flight was lower than my blueprints.

Weight is nice and heavy. turf interaction was great on links tees or winter rough.

When comparing the heads to my Blueprints they are bigger but when playing they don't look much different.

Missed 1 green of the 5 so can't complain.

4 birdies and 2 doubles. Course is fun and would certainly play again. No 1 is far better though. If I had stayed down I could have played Muirfield tomorrow but fathering duties prevailed!

  • 4 weeks later...

Well starting in November, I had a putter fitting and then a couple weeks later went for the wedge fitting. Easily one of my favorite golf experiences ever for both of them. I loved the look at the irons so I scheduled a fitting and had it done today. Those irons are amazing. I am not the greatest ball striker, but I am somebody that strives to be confident at something that frames the ball well. These heads framed the ball maybe better than anything I have seen before. I absolutely fell in love with them during the fitting process. Jay was super knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had and thankfully I had a good enough ball striking day to be fit into a HC/ FC set.  I’m ecstatic and can’t wait to have my bag completed.

honestly I have no idea, the blueprints are very forgiving for their size.

I have not hit the artisan irons since December 28. been to the range with the blueprints a few times and again other than feel I didn't notice anything but artisan sample size is very small at 5 hits.

I hit the ball high with the blueprints, hitting it lower would help me, I was also swinging very well on December 28.

For anyone that has hit both:

how would you compare the Artisan FC vs the OG zx7?

I play competitively and trying to justify buying the FC over my zx7. I like the zx7 but occasionally I hit a really hot ball that carries about 12 yards too far.

im also looking at miura CB-1008 anecdotally.

I cannot speak to the zx7s.  I came from Mizuno JPX919 forged irons.  For me, the Artisans have much better distance dispersion than my Mizunos did.
