Similar to the Mavrik in a lot of ways, super classic head shape (the DOT was all black on top, no alignment aid even) that sat open. Just a super crisp, explosive feel, multi material but kinda low key about it.

 

the DOT was sooooo good but didn't seem to get the love either. Again another case of i think where Callaway just really marketed another line more.

Henrik Stenson would also vote for the Octane Tour. He will likely be buried with one (or several).

The original Ping Rapture irons should have been iconic. Stupid easy to hit.  If I could still find a 2 or 3 iron in worthy condition from those I would game it in a heartbeat.  I always preferred those wide-soled long irons to hybrids.  I believe they were the first Ping iron to make use of many materials in an iron.  They had the titanium face, tungsten toe weight, 17-4 stainless body, and the elastomer CTP. I never tried the Rapture V2 and actually preferred the look of the Rapture v1.

played with a 20 something year old yesterday who had the OG Rapture irons in his bag for 11 years.  Not only did they still look good but they seemed to do very well for his aggressive but not very elegant swing

Definitely get a set if you can because they really are great irons and forgiving for the design … Worth picking up because if you somehow didn’t like them you’d be able to get your money back out of them selling them … I got a left handed set 4 years ago and I don’t ever think about getting new irons and that is coming from a confirmed equipment ho ….

Went back to a mavrik max this year. It’s a treat

 

went to a mavrik sub zero 4 wood and mavrik heavenwood.
