2022 US Women's Open - Player's Pool

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Given the positive feedback from the ANA/CHEVRON Major tournament, it seems only natural to do it again for this major too.

So, here are the "RULES to PLAY"

Concept:   A Fantasy Pool for the 2022 US Women's Open Championship
No Wagering or Pool Contribution Required

So it is a Free/No cost Pool to encourage all Forum Regulars to participate.
Based on the feedback here is an overview:

FORMAT:

1.   Pick 5 - Players Total (Winner is the one with the lowest Aggregate Score at the end of Play on Sunday Wins - all four rounds)
2.  Players missing the cut get assigned an automatic Score of 79
3.  Tie Breaker -- If the Player that Wins the event is in your Picks;
4.  IF Still Tied, then Player that shoots the lowest score on Sunday wins;
5.  If Still Tied, then the next best player (Top 4 scores from your picks is considered and then the lowest agreggate score wins);

If still tied - then open to additional suggestions!

Submit your Picks by Wednesday June 1, 2022 - 6:00 p.m. local time

IF THERE ARE SUGGESTED CHANGES TO THE FORMAT, LETS DISCUSS THEM.

ALSO FEEL FREE TO SED YOUR PICKS TO ME BY DM STARTING ON SUNDAY MAY 29TH.   I WILL SEND MY PICKS TO ANOTHER CONTESTANT SO AS TO AVOID ANY NOTIONS OF CHERRY PICKING!
  😂

I’d planned on attending the 2022 Women’s US Open as was supposed to be my “I’m Back” moment after having been in a horrific accident 11 months ago, leaving me a paraplegic. Thus my absence from the forum as I’ve focused more on regaining some semblance of life. Anyway, I’d planned on departing Saturday but, after dodging Covid for a couple years, tested positive Thursday morning. I know, I have all the luck

Sorry about the terrible timing . . . but, perhaps you would like to join us in this little escapade!  No money involved.  We just pick our Five players and see which one of us wins the pool on Sunday!

Hey Everyone . . .

Just a thought -- seeing as there are 30 Amateurs in the Field, why don't we expand the picks to 6 players of which 1 MUST be an amateur?

For the purpose of Pool scoring, we will tally only the top - 5 scores.  That way if you have an MC, the "punishment" is not so bad.

Also, in the event of a tie-breaker, we can use the lowest score of the amateur player.  So it would look something like this:

3.  Tie Breaker -- If the Player that Wins the event is in your Picks;
4.  IF Still Tied, then Player that shoots the lowest score on Sunday wins;

5.  IF Still Tied, then the lowest score of the amateur player will win;
6.  If Still Tied, then the next best player's score is used (e.g.: Top 4 scores from your picks is considered and then the lowest agreggate score wins);

If still tied - then open to additional suggestions!

Does anyone here know? Is there an "alt list" for USWO at this point??

Okay . . . here is the complete Field List as of today (May 30, 2022).  Amateurs are denoted with the (a).

@Golf Dino thanks... is there an "Alternate List" published somewhere?

It's not on the USGA website (i think). https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/championships/2022/u-s--women-s-open/2022-us--womens-open-player-bios.html

@Argonne69 Isn't the SOP = "5 pros + 1 amateur"? @Golf Dino?

Ingrid is paired with the 🐐.  You think she will be nervous?  That has gotta be cool for Ingrid getting to play with Annika.

That was part of my reasons for picking her , I think she will be up to the challenge, also So Yeon in her group is very friendly and mainly a contrarion pick to everyone else using Davis and Zhang 🙂

My heart said Lydia is a good pick, but she's just too wayward off the tee these days.

A Lim is a bit of a dark horse, which is odd to say for a winner two years ago. She has the length, and is decent around the greens, but she's been a little down lately. She hasn't had a top 20 since March.

I know I'll be kicking myself for not picking Minjee. No real reason to exclude her given her recent results, but she's never had a top 10 in the USWO.

I agree about A Lim.. but if things start to click for her.. I think she's got a good chance..  I don't see much weakness in her game..

I guess you can say the same for most players.. but I always liked her game.
