Tensei Raw vs xlink

Recommended Posts

Anyone compared the white or blue in two versions? Recently got fit in to the blue xlink 75x in my 3w and wondering if it’s be a good fit in driver too but can’t find that anywhere in 65x. Have a white 65x coming with xlink that I did hit well in the rogue head bud possibly looking for more launch. Overall the new av series seems awesome for a stock Callaway shaft.

They're going to be very similar. Xlink is just the update for 2022. MCA isn't going to mess with its bread and butter oem offering shaft profiles too much- they're both very established and work very well

So basically I could save some money and go with a raw blue instead of tirelessly searching for a xlink blue. Thanks

I would wholeheartedly agree with this statement, yes.  You could even go back to an AV blue.

Just to throw another wrench in there- the CK Pro Blue is pretty affordable now on the secondary market and is the premium offering with a full butt of Kevlar and the boron fibers in the tip.  Not to further obfuscate things, but that's where I'd look in the Tensei line for the best price/performance point.

Just worry about the stiffness. I know the X works for me in the xlink version. Would the pro be too stiff?

Had the Diamana TB and PD.  Currently have the Tensei 1K and TPO 1K.  All of these shafts have Xlink and to me, it makes them have more feel/smoother than any of MCA's previous generation shafts.

Thanks for the responses. I have both a blue and white inflight to test in my driver. Currently have the Ventus black 6x in and hoping one of these can give me a little more ball speed and a touch more launch compared to the Ventus.

Got out for the first time with the white. No range before and results were hit and miss. One beautiful drive of 275.

got to the range afterwards and compared to the Ventus black. I am reconsidering selling the black now after discovering a tee height change that help both launch better. Sadly I forgot my prgr. The white definitely wants to go left a little if you get to aggressive with it. Does have a smoother feel than the Ventus with a little kick to it. I need more time with it and to keep tinkering with it and my Ventus. Also my blue should be in in about a week to add to the testing.

I saw a lot of hooks with the AV Raw White but that was the OG version.  Felt off for me.  You may have to tinker with the head a bit.  Maybe loft down.  Add some lead tape toe side could help with the lefts.  Explore all avenues before giving up on it.

Totally. What this has given me though is something to tinker with. The head already was toe side and had an 18g weight due to my Ventus playing at 44.5. For the white I was choking down the same. Interestingly, it didn’t feel overly heavy when I didn’t choke down.

Today on the range. The xlink white was much better than the Ventus black. Took it out on the executive course. Hit some nice draws with it. I have a feeling the softer handle it causing me to draw and pull draw. The xlink blue comes in next week. Hopefully that’s the Goldilocks with a stiff handle and tip and soft mid. Works great in the 3w. I have never been so consistent with one. Mostly straight or slight draw. 20-30 short of my driver total from the tee. Love it!

Carbon fiber that's 20% stronger than the conventional stuff.  In lay man's terms, it makes the shaft more stable.

I went up one flex to X with the AV Raw white and it’s been really good. Completely eliminated the lefts, which so was getting with stiff flex.
To me, the Raw white C is about the same stiffness as a Ventus Blue S

Again….to me, the Ventus Black S feels stiffer than the Raw White X

Tested out the three shafts today. The blue and the black are ahead of the white. Blue gave me the best ball speed and the ventus was the most consistent on strike. Need to keep testing and get the blue on the course. As well i need to keep up the swing work. Things have slipped since my little vacation. I was also gassed after doing speed sticks and hitting half a bucket.

Took the Av blue out today for 9. Best drives were 270+. Best of all the ball never went left with spin axis. My black sometimes would. As well I only pulled two drives whereas with the Ventus that would happen more regularly. Need to get more rounds and get on a sim sometime to get numbers.

Sounds like the Blue is winning out over the Ventus Black in terms of ball speed and dispersion.  I think you already know who the winner is.  However, I'm not opposed to further testing just to verify your results.
