Titleist Pro V1x equivalent

Losing 1 ball a round isn't very far fetched. In fact, most would love to have that as their average.

nobody is saying its "far fetched". the point is if you lose 50+ balls a year and are looking for a cheap alternative, i totally think playing the cheapest ball is the way to go....if you lose 50+ balls a year and dont care about the $$...thats cool too....

Is there a unicorn ball that spins like the ProV1X around the green and a bit less (like a Snell MTB-X) on irons?

 

I love the greenside spin of the ProV1X but my irons spin too much and stall into the wind.

I know I would, lol.  Not too many courses here that have wide fairways and no to very little OB.  I tend to curve the ball quite a bit because I don't keep the face square for very long through the zone which means I can get away with it in short and mid irons but not so much the other clubs.  Being long off the tee is a blessing and curse, haha.

I would suggest to give the Z-Star Diamond a try.  Plenty of greenside spin but spins just enough with irons IMO.  To me it sits right in between the ProV1 and X.

Really liking the Z star diamond right now. Had to get used to a little more backspin on the green, but now that I am, really scoring well with it. Really long off the driver too.

I would say the diamond is fairly close to the V1x.

Snell MTB-X is a great option.  Wish they had their 5 dozen deal.  I did see the Callaway Chromesoft has a practice ball released, and the numbers perform the same as their premium balls.  It is conforming as well.  But as stated, Titleist has a bundle deal every year.  From my experience, and I have tried a bunch, most of the cheaper balls get damaged quicker.

I need to try the diamond but I worry about the durability based on seeing things from others. I tend to scuff V1xs on any somewhat full wedge shot.

Another note for Vice Pro Plus. It's firmer and higher spin like the ProV1X. I just reloaded on another 5 dozen. Hard to beat for the price.

Golf Galaxy was nice enough to give me a sleeve of Maxfli Tour X balls to try on my round last Saturday. 

 

I have nothing to report as I played all 18 with 1 ProV1x and I didn't want to switch 😂

I bought 50 "5A" Pro V1 and V1X in a bundle deal last year.  I wouldn't recommend it unless you lose balls rather quickly.  The cover on 80% of them chipped off rather quickly.  I doubt I venture into used golf balls ever again.

Golf spy did a report regarding the Hit em Again and Recycled balls. They found a lot of them were simply painted over.

Pretty spot on from my experience with them.  Also saw a post on FB by Golf Gods, and it was a ProV1, but you could faintly see Callaway through the newly painted cover.

FYI the photo you're referencing is about "refurbished" balls, not "used" balls. There is a distinct difference between the two

I bought them off Mercari.  I believe the guys name was Golfreseller, but I am at work all night, and can't check it here.  He has loads of balls that he advertised as 5A used golf balls.  Many different brands.  He had a 5 star review too, but you can only review after purchase.  I tried to update or add another review, but you can't without purchase.

Thx for that.  I've used LostGolfBalls in the past w/ very little issues. I bought some 5A's once and a few out of the 2 or 3 doz were clearly not 5A.  Contacted them and they made it right almost immediately.

Yea....I saw that site when I was looking into it at the time, but it required a minimum purchase for free shipping if I recall.  It was the first time I had ever purchased a 5A ball, and wanted to find a cheaper option.  My friend bought a ton of Callaway's CS balls from Mercari, and he recommended that site to me.  But you get what you pay for I guess.
