Rep called and they are finally shipping today!! 😀

Well, here we are 3 weeks later and still no clubs… not sure why it was communicated that the clubs were ready to ship, but have been told that they still don’t have the shafts.  They are expecting them on 5/25.  Fingers crossed I’ll have them by the end of the month for a trip I have planned.

Similar situation here. I was told that mine are in production and would ship by the end of the week for the past three weeks. Looks like they still have not been shipped last Friday. Apparently there is an issue with the club heads - ordered std spec, red dot.

Sorry about the delays, not much you can do I suppose, but get the frustration. Mine took about 4 weeks or so in January. Responding to other posters, I agree, these are not some miracle club (lifelong PING player), but I am glad I did not jump ship on them early on, as the more I hit them, the more I like them, the more I trust them, especially as the ground firms up. I ended up re-shafting them with what I was originally fit for (Aerotech i95 R straight in) for, but for some reason, PGA TSS could not order them, so I got PX LZ's instead. Shaft change made a big difference distance wise, ease of hit and strike and height and spin for me (distance is very good, especially in the power spec). I used to play the LZ a lot, and still do in some wedges, but at 58, it has become heavy for me. I am now more of a 95-105 iron shaft player. I also went 1 degree strong, but will go full power-spec, as some are 1.5 strong in the PS configuration. I think I jumped shipped too quick on the i210's, and these are IMO better in multiple ways, at least for me. My all time favorite i series is still the i25 (still have 2 sets), but these are slowly starting to become a new favorite.

Yea, just wish they woulda said shafts were back ordered from the get go.  Maybe they had some in stock and ran out, who knows.

I ordered mine 27/12/22 and was told in March that Ping were not happy doing them how I ordered them but never said they wouldn't. I ordered them 1°- 1.5° stronger than power spec with Aerotech shafts. I'm pretty patient but last week i rang the rep and asked if they had been built yet. He came back to me the next day and said they hadn't been built. In the meantime I heard that not everyone was loving them so I decided to to order i525's i std spec with Alta S shafts. If I don't like the shafts I'll order the Aerotech's myself. I'm expecting a month wait.

Seems like if Ping don't list the shafts then it becomes an issue.

Yes. Fullstop. I am not a high ball hitter and I even enjoy the 4i. Not sure about swingspeed, but a 33* 7i in the i230 Is about my 160 club, 165 on a good day.

Hope that helps

I've been really liking my i230s over the last 5-6 rounds.  They fly very straight and seem to put less curvature on the ball compared to the 921 Tours I came from.   Turf interaction not as good as the tours, but getting used to them.

Still thinking of going powerspec in hopes of bringing the ball flight down a little, but just concerned they'll be a little long then.

Are you getting unwanted spin-back?

I think they're great.  I played them in soft, wet conditions earlier this year and firm, tight conditions over the last month or so and haven't even thought about it.  Some people complain about the bounce but I'm a fairly shallow with my divots and have zero complaints.

Been playing them in wet-ish conditions and they've performed very well. I'm still a little bit not used to 7/8/9 for how massive they are (compared to blueprints), so I'm not finding the middle yet. That's frustrating, but it's not the sticks.

Incredibly consistent, incredibly forgiving, and it's getting better. I've only played 6 rounds. It's not an instant thing.

I wouldn't say I'm getting unwanted back spin on the greens, but they are flying very high and can get impacted by the wind.

PowerSpec won't help much - probably the degree or two you'd get. If you're perfectly happy with your gapping, don't do it. If your gaps are a bit in flux or you want a little less bounce, by all means do it. Just don't expect a lot of difference in the wind based on apex. It'll just bring the spin down a bit.

OK, thank you for the advice!

What do you think the lowered loft will add...about 3-5 yards?  How do you think the bounce will impact turf interaction?  I currently feel like the i230s don't get through the turf very cleanly/easily.

Realistically, yes. 4-7 yards depending on your speed. Probably 4-5 on the longs, 2-3 on the shorts. The gaps will grow by 1-2 per.

Turf isn't going to change a lot. A little particularly in 6-7-8, but not a lot as they have to stay in a properly gapped spread.

If you wanted to affect the bounce, you could go straight 2º off every iron, but I'm not sure that's ideal. If you're not opposed to some minor bending after-the-fact, it could work.

I have had my i230s for about three weeks now, with about 12 rounds plus range sessions on them.  I have been very impressed with them and have had no turf interaction issues.  I got fitted by our PING rep, so I have the proper lie angle, which makes a difference.  My previous irons were too upright for me, so my miss tended to be left.

I find the distance very consistent and the dispersion excellent.  I went with Power Spec lofts mainly to get proper gapping.  I'm guessing the lofts probably are good for about half a club further for me   But, the ball flight is still very good.  So, I'm pleased with my decision in getting Power Spec.

Although I am a 3 handicap (due primarily to fairly solid ball striking - it's definately not because I am a good putter since I am definitely not that), I decided to go with a PING G 425 #5 hybrid instead of the 5 iron.  At 65 years old, I decided I needed a little help in the longer irons.  It's a great club and has been a good addition to my set.

Had a long lesson today and we checked and adjusted loft, lie, swing weight.

He would hand me the i230, I'd hit, he'd adjust, I'd hit, and if good, we went to the next iron.

Lofts and lies were off - around a degree or a tad more. Swingweights were D1.5-3, so he made them all D3 with lead tape. I had requested Ping to have them at D2.

I recommend getting  a good tech to check and adjust.

Ive been playing the i230 for about a month and I must say although they're very good irons, the feel on pure strikes don't feel as pure as my Titleist T200 irons. Same shaft but to me has a dead feel. Anyone else thinks and feel the same way.

My thoughts exactly.  I was so excited when these came out based on refined looks but they feel dead just like you said. I'm back to i210 which I believe feel perfect along with Glide Stealth Wedges. I still don't understand why Ping won't release a set of i series in stealth.
