Anyone have success painting a driver crown?

Hi Y'all,

 

Got the new PXG driver during the Labor Day sale on a whim.  Loving how I hit it but thought the crown would be dark.  It is very light gray.

 

Is there a type / method to paint a driver that will look professional?  Any ideas?  Any photos of a similar job?

I wouldn't sand and paint a brand new driver. If you want it to look great, send it to someone who does refinishes and can do a legit powdercoat on it.

Anyone know anybody who does powdercoating? Maybe one of the big putter refinishing shops.

You don't powdercoat clubs, especially a driver.

You'd paint it with an automotive paint, probably with a 2 part urethane clear coat over the top. I'd also recommend sending it to Continental.

Is the crown the aluminum vapor? I’d leave as is.

All titanium, a body shop can do it.. 

carbon fiber, or some other ish… just use your favorite bumper stickers or seaweed wrap.

Some yrs. ago I bought a red Cobra driver. I got on a red kick. My Tour Edge fairways were black so I painted them red also. They turned out really nice IMO and they held up all through the time I played them.

 

I taped the faces. I scuffed up the heads, sprayed automotive primer on them and used red automotive paint on them. I finished them with clear coat.

Why not wrap it in vinyl? cheap and totally reversable if desired.
