First Ace!

First ace today!

 

Went out with a friend on a fantastic 60 degree December day here in MD. 15th hole, 154 yards to the pin, downhill, straight into a stiff breeze. Buddy said seems like a 160ish shot so we both went with trying to hit smooth 8 irons. He hits his pin high about 20 feet from the flag so I knew the number was right. I step over the ball and flush it. The ball doesn't leave the flagstick, seemed to land really close and then disappear. Unreal. We both must've checked with our range finders eight times before finally deciding it actually went in. Drove up, and sure enough, the pitch mark was a foot and a half from the hole and the ball at the bottom of the cup. 

 

Glad it came like this on a great shot with a friend. I play pretty regularly on my own or as a single, so I've always been worried I'd get one when playing by myself (nightmare!) or with strangers. 

 

Been playing for going on six years, and after reading some of the posts on here about how long they've come for others, I kind of resigned myself to it going to be a while...if ever. Some good juju on this course as it's also the first place I broke 80.

Yup! Have had the 360s for a while and change out the spikes every so often. Wear spikeless most of the time but will put these on for more stability when it’s wet/damp/cold.

Oh I know haha. Only thing that picture really proves is some random guy can get into a squat. 

 

That's why I'm glad my friend was there to witness it.

Ha, I guess it does prove 'squat' then.  I have a hole-in-one but neither i nor my buddy could see it go in the hole because of the green elevation, so for all I know, a squirrel put it there.   My buddy might not even remember it.  It's the only scorecard I ever kept.  Shot a 97, so that's proof enough I wasn't lying.  If you were going to lie about it, you'd probably make the score a bit less embarrassing.

Haha true! So funny since I wasn't playing particularly well that day either. Finished with an 86 with an ace lol.  Didn't really care about my score after that.
