New driver shaft Homa Young

Homa playing this in his driver and think I saw Cameron young playing same shaft at hero world challenge. Looks like a Mitsubishi 1k…black?!?! Any idea?

It is. Stock titleist shaft this year.

Definitely the Tensei 1K black. Id imagine that it is a TX version. So it'll be different from the stock offering.

Its a 1K Black in the TX version, which is the only version with premium materials, like the Tensei Raw Blue line.

Tensei lines always confuse me.  The TX is available at no upcharge through Titleist.

Hi all -- to clear up any confusion: All 1K Black structures, regardless of flex, use premium materials. The TX flexes use more higher modulus materials simply to achieve desired stiffness which is a typical design practice in the industry. No 1K Black structure should be written off simply due to flex designation on the shaft. Every 1K Black structure is a very, very good product that has gone through rigorous testing and performance validation.

Got a chance to test this 1K black in X flex in the TSR3 and anecdotally, it’s a stiffer tip feeling white. I would say it’s likely aimed at the Ventus black crowd, which was the shaft Homa used last season. Solid shaft for stock offering.

Recently cracked my 3rd TSI3 3 wood head so getting it replaced with a TSR ordered it with the 1k black 7TX but had a Ventus black 7x tipped 1" so will get a bit of comparison between the two once it comes in

I hit the TX when the TSR came out, hoping that I would not have to get a Ventus Black, but it did not feel the same and ended up ordering a Ventus.  

Tip was softer, even with 1" tip on the TX.  

It was close but in my opinion not as good.

Love it in my 7 wood though.

Sets of 13 have been popping up on ebay Matty, can't mind the name of the seller but it's a PGA pro somewhere in England. He has been starting bidding at 80 quid but they always show as sold after a day or 2, so assume folk offer a decent buy it now and they accept. I chanced my arm and offered 90 quid, that was swiftly declined..

I will need to keep an eye! I was looking through the Titleist custom catalogue earlier this week (for no particular reason I must admit) and I noticed that in the current version that they have on the co.uk page that BCT was listed as temporarily unavailable. You know it is bad when even manufacturers cannot get their hands on them!

I have a TSR4 coming this week with the 1k Black 75TX tipped one inch. I play the TSI3 with a Ventus Black 7x, tipped the same. So I'll be able to do a good apples to apples test soon.   It'll need to be great to make a change.

Anyone give Super Stroke Cord's a try? Visually they're the closest I could find to the BCTs but skeptical about durability...

Very. This shaft is legit. I took 30 pro v's to the range and hit them to a hole close by on the course. I marked them up to know which was which. Started with the TSI3 Ventus Black and then moved on the TSR4 Ventus Black. Then did the same with the 1k.  I knew I liked the flight of the 1k straight away but was surprised to see the dispersion was a little tighter with the 1k when I gathered them up. 

 

Headed out to play 18. I only used the TSR4, so it was two new things to get used to but results were very solid. 

 

The 1k reminds me very much of a TPT 14 proto shaft I played for a few years. Very stable and allows me to go after it without fear of the left side. Small sample but a good start.

I spent embarrassing amounts of money keeping BCT Midsize in stock and then finally bought the S-Tech Cord awhile back and it’s been a game changer.
 

Absolutely love it. The cord is softer to me but still as effective so it’s a win win. Worth a try for sure.
