If they expand i hope they build a toned down hotel/lodge or whatever.  No need for it to be that nice.  Feels like current hotel was built for couples.   I bet 95%+ of golfers there are dudes.  Certainly need accommodations for couples, but most guys need a bed, a bathroom, and a central bar.

I always thought the hotel was kind of weird. I like it that kind of hotel, but 100% agree with what you are saying. They could also use a more casual restaurant.

They just added a casual bar. The old steakhouse at the red/blue clubhouse is now a pub/bar food. There’s a new supposedly nicer steakhouse off to the side of that.

My biggest gripes have always been service related so unless they fix that nothing will really be improved

Well, Kemper managed them prior to buying them, so not sure how much will change unfortunately! Good to hear about the food options, it has been a few years since I have been.

With that much land I can see them making it more like a golf town (not sure that's the proper phrasing), but have a few hotel options from high end exclusive to barebones. Same with the restaurants. Maybe some more spa like amenities and shopping for the wives etc.

Golf wise I'd love to see the par 3 course expanded from 7 to 18 holes maybe. With the clay base as mentioned maybe a completely different style course can be added.

I doubt that location in central Florida would ever have the draw for such a destination.

The plans do include a new "real" Par 3 course, I think they realize the current Par 3 course is very lacking compared to competing resorts. Sounds like planning to build new golf villas in that location (what would be genius is if they could preserve a couple of the Par 3 greens around the villas and put lighting out there, guests staying in the villas could use them as night-time entertainment).

part of the draw is that it’s not $70 like the sandbox or preserve (yes, I know they are free as a third round). I think of it more like shorties. Grab a beer or two and a club or two and play a bit of cross country. Winner calls the next hole. To me that’s a blast and going to be missed if they get rid of it. I’m fine with the full par 3 but I think they both have their place.

Bottom line is that it is going to get more expensive to stay and play there.

It seems like they struggle to staff the accommodations they have.  Where is this extra work force coming from?  It has always seemed to me to be overbuilt as is, with pretty poor organization and service.  Not due to bad leadership, but just not enough quality/quantity of employees.

Bandon has housing onsite for employees due to this... maybe something streamsong will explore

Considering the location and available land, they could go the route that the World Equestrian Center in Ocala is doing. They have an expensive high end hotel plus RV parking area (that has a general store and gas station) and are building both a less pricey extended stay hotel and employee lodging.

I used to work at a phosphate mine in north Florida where we controlled over 110k acres.  Similar situation with the sand tailings versus clay/mud storage cells.  Most of the mined out pits are excellent for bass fishing (or shaping the tailings into a golf course).  That would be some cheap property for a future Streamsong North, but similar difficulty with staffing an operation that size in a remote location.

There are dozens of jobs listed on the Kemper website for Streamsong.  Maybe they will better recruit with proving housing, but that's a mining town, and the jobs with Mosaic will pay a lot better than the jobs with Kemper.
