man i love thursdays. 

 

i don’t go in to the office and my wife takes the kids to a nature class from 9-12 so it’s the one day a week where i can get a full training session in without waking up at 5am.

i’m playing tomorrow morning and would’ve done the same thing today whether i was or wasn’t. 

 

tomorrow i’ll make sure i get up early and get a good sweat in before heading to the course. probably some bike intervals and a bodyweight workout before leaving the house.

That is a lot of revenue and taxes to lose.  I know the team always comes out ahead in the end, but the city has to be struggling.

if i were to ever play some kind of a competitive or tournament round i’d probably go back to doing a movement/active recovery day the day before i played just to be on the safer side.

I always get sore after training because I make sure to regularly alter my routine. If I don't get sore I feel like I failed.

mine is constantly varied. i don’t follow any kind of a routine anymore. just kind of go out to the garage with a general idea of what i wanna do and wing it from there.

Strange you don’t get muscle soreness anymore. I’ve been lifting consistently for 20+ years and still get muscle soreness.

i mean they get a little crunchy but it generally dissipates after a few minutes on the bike the next day. 

 

if you saw what my sessions used to look like, it’d make more sense why i feel ok everyday now

Well as a self professed FF'er, first word being fat second is your choice, I can tell you my mid-50's gets sore just thinking about getting up and working out.  And then after I do it, my body continues to feel sore, but worse.

 

And I have been doing it for 15 months, and it isn't huge weights, just enough to help me sustain my FF physique and I wonder why I get so sore.  3 days a week I do some light lifting and then 2 days a week I get on an exercise bike and break a sweat.

 

You guys that are committed to this are incredible, I only have about 20 years left before I am hopefully dead.  I don't want to be so old I can't think or can't move, which seems to be where most people end up nowadays.

you’re doing plenty. that’s a great lifting/cardio mix. add in some golf and you’re better off than 90% of people are.

At 50, doing the same stuff I did in the gym 10+ years ago is getting harder and harder. The key is being in excellent shape prior to “getting old”. So much easier to maintain than gain at the 40yo + mark! Prehab over rehab!

Theories abounded as to why 4/20 became popular, most of them wrong, until two reporters for Huffington Post wrote a 2009 article about 4/20’s history. The Huffington Post now re-publishes the article, “How ‘Weed Day’ Got Its Name,” every year.
 

As the journalists found, it all began in 1971 with a group of five San Rafael High School athletes who had to wait until after practice — at 4:20 p.m. — to get high and hunt for a patch of marijuana plants they’d heard about. The “Waldos,” as they called themselves because of a meeting place near a wall, never found the plants, but the term “4/ 20” stuck — and spread.

You shouldn’t feel sore after you’ve been doing a program for a few days, couple weeks tops, much less 15 months!

 

Especially If you hit a muscle twice a week. Could be your routine isn’t “routine” enough or focused enough. But I’m 54! and I only get sore if I haven’t trained a muscle for a couple of weeks and then hit it. 
 

Im thinking you’d get less sore if you worked out a little harder!
