Prescription Oakley Sunglasses for Golf

I couldn't play golf in bifocals or progressives, had to get a pair of single vision just for golf.

Glad I could help. They are great about returns/exchanges if the glasses don’t fit or there is any issue. Really no risk. But I bet you will like them. 
 

Brown polarized is awesome, I like it better for golf than the golf lens. REKS told me that the brown polarized is the lens they recommended for golf before they had the golf lens and it is still very popular.

Would clear lenses like that South African guy wears be the ticket or should I get some sort of sunglasses even for the overcast days?

 

I think the regular Prizm Golf lenses would be the best all around lens for your situation. You could consider getting the interchangeable lenses so you have clear, regular Golf Prism and dark Golf Prism but that could get a little pricey.

I tried every knockoff brand before giving up and purchasing simply the Oakleys. Instead of spending my time and money on the imitations, I wish I had just bought these right away. These are simply infinitely superior in every regard.

Those saying wear progressives for everything but golf...it depends on where your vision is (far, near, etc.)

 

Good luck buying glasses based on a web forum opinion....find an optometrist who knows sports and has experience fitting for them.

This. The last thing you want is trial and error on this topic. Last I checked, a pair of Oakley progressive sunnies was about $800. 
 

You’ve got to get properly fitted by an optician. I’ve been down the road of trying to do this myself with piss poor results. Thankfully I was experimenting with less costly sunglasses but it was still a waste.
 

My distance vision isn’t good, my close vision is…..if I wear single vision lenses, the ball ends up right in between — too close for the distance script — and I get dizzy. Also cannot read the scorecard (or drinks menu at the 19th hole 😏) with single vision glasses on. I didn’t  love wearing my progressives for golf at first, but I’ve gotten used to them. Jury is still out on what to do for sunglasses.

This was me before cataract surgery.  I had played in regular progressive lens for over 20 years without any issue, other than just my sight getting worse on distance.   I tired a pair of single vision sun glasses at first based on the popular opinion of don't do progressive.    They were not great, just like you there were a lot more close up things that became more inconvenient than I thought there would be.    So I ordered another pair sunglasses with progressive's.    Both of these were through Sport RX which I can't recommend enough, they have opticians that specialize in each sport that you deal with.    

 

Now that I'm one year post Cataract, I haven't been wearing any glasses, but my distance vision is poor at best.   I can't see the ball land on the green much beyond 140 to 150 yards.   The eye doctor gave me a new prescription for distance at the time.   I had been holding off but think I'll go ahead and get a pair of single vision  sunglasses now and see if it helps.   I'm thinking it will be different now as post cataract I can do up-close things and read just fine without glasses for the most part.

I have a pair of Oakley Leadline with Prizm Dark Golf Prescription lenses (single vision). They are good but only work in really bright conditions. Would not recommend them for overcast. In all honesty, I don't think Oakley is better than others, especially for the price they are charging. I got mine on a "deal" for $430 but I think you can have very similar results for $250-300.

I have a pair of Oakley Prizm Golf sunglasses and like them a lot, about a month ago started shopping around for the same lenses but with a single distance prescription. My local optometrist wanted $400 just to swap out the lenses on my current frames, the Oakley web site wanted $350 for the prescription lenses, frame cost additional. Ended up buying a pair online from Fashion Eyeware (a UK based company). Got the frames and prescription Prizm Golf lenses for $300, shipping was slow, took about 2 weeks, but that's what they estimated beforehand. Very pleased with the sunglasses, see much better with the prescription added.
