Shipping tactic is an age old scam after the initial scam...next he will have shipped to the wrong address and need more shipping money etc. etc. If you want me to help track this guy down shoot me $20 PP FF and I will see what I can do...in all seriousness, take all recourse you can getting your money back ASAP. You also have his cell number, I would start by calling him.

Well that’s not true, I’ve sold a few times on here. Some people don’t realize how much it costs to ship oversized boxes especially ones that are the size of a full length club..

I had the same issue a few weeks ago shipping a single club, sold a FW5 to someone in here, expected price to be cheap but it was like $70, guess what instead of refunding and saying sorry for wasting your time… I shipped it out and literally gave the club away for free.. it happens

don’t see anything wrong with asking for a few bucks to cover shipping especially if it’s something insane but also don’t expect the buyer to pay since YOU made the price and shipping fees prior.

it’s all about how you do business and trust me, not the first time I’ve taken a big loss shipping wise

It most certainly can be true and this is a prime example of that tactic.

Instead of paying $70 to ship Usps ,  why not look in using FedEx or better yet UPS. No way on Gods green earth one club is $70 shipped anywhere in the lower 48.

I promise you from Michigan to California due to weight but mainly size of the box, either the lady screwed up but was ringing up at $55 then $15 oversized box fee

i got a $73 quote from UPS to send a 2-iron from connecticut to louisiana two weeks ago…for ground shipping.

immediately hopped on pirate ship in the ups store, they were charging $28 to send the same club.

used the ups store printer to print the pirate ship label and dropped it on the counter lol.

shipping is INSANE right now.

Was it overnight or was the lady trying to pocket some spending money 😂

From the most northern point in CT to New Orleans , 44x6x6 at even 4 lbs the estimate was less than $22

Try printing your own label using UPS website or Pirate ship, you’ll save a ton.

not sure how they came up with $73 but regardless, i wasn’t paying it.

That 50” box is no bueno for sure! I have trimmed those boxes because that extra 2” does =$50+ more in some cases. That’s on us though when it could be trimmed for the club in the box.

Your boxes need to be less than 48” and in some cases the width and depth need to be 6”x6” or less. Those are the two areas where they start jacking the rates in you for oversized shipping.

I ran into this just last week. Shipping a driver shaft in a box that was 50” in length was going to cost $57. I cut the box down to 48” and it dropped to $14. Crazy!

UPS charged back my pirate ship account because they claimed a box was 6x7”……. Which they claimed affected the DWT by 12lbs…..  It was an extra $9… fortunately I got it reversed because they were wrong about the dimensions…. But be careful …

I don’t even know where to buy the damn boxes

ask your local golf shop… they are usually more than willing to give me some boxes…. I spend more than enough In there.

… although a UPS store tried to pull some shenanigans where they told me my boxes couldn’t have any exterior markings or labels from other companies….. like a KBS shaft box… but would gladly sell me one of their boxes….

yeah…. Last time I ever went there.

That's strange.

Just 6 days ago I sent a putter cross country, from a "UPS Store", from SoFla to Cal., UPS ground for ~$25, insured for $200.

I used to use USPS for single clubs as they provide the triangular USPS Priority boxes for free. Once they went to a $15 surcharge for oversize packages I began to look elsewhere. :einstein:

P.S. Just saw your box size of 50". As @golffeen007 pointed out 48" seems to be a cutoff point. I trim an oversize box down to size with a utility knife.

yeah, that was probably the case.

i didn’t think too hard about it.  had a box from an old driver laying around and just used that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

pirate ship saved the day though and i got it sent out for under $30

Yea man. My CC company is issuing a chargeback.  PP support said they can “indirectly investigate” the matter once CC issuer initiates a chargeback.  So working out ok all things considered.

So, just to give closure to this transaction, DID your CC actually give you the $$$ back ?

I do the same thing.  I trim those boxes anytime it's possible to keep it below 48".  The USPS  surcharges are ridiculous and I believe 100% a single club could cost $70.

I have some uncut shafts I want to sell but likely won't be able to because the raw length is 46" on each. You have to have some padding in the box (at least I put some padding in) making it very difficult to get these boxes under 48".  On drivers and fw's with adjustable hosels, i remove the heads before shipping to keep the length down.
