Any Older, Low - Mid Cap Players with Mizzy 923 Hot Metal?

I played both 919 and 921 Hot Metal's for a while. Shafts were KBS C-Taper Lite's, KBS V Steel. nice clubs but i never could get over the thicker top line, wide soles an offset. High ball flight and easy to elevate. Good as any distance GI iron. I've now switched to 921 HM Pro's with Recoil 95's and couldn't be happier. Thinner top line, narrower sole and minimal offset. Its as forgiving, IMO, as the HM's, and distance is equal in a better-looking package. As for the Recoils? I wish I'd made the switch earlier. As an aside I did think about going to the newer 923's. But after demoing I saw no difference between the 921's vs 923's. And the price difference sealed the deal.

I play now to a 12 Hc which has been going North with age (74) and not playing or practicing as much. I play now more for fun, casual skins games and such vs completive tournaments.

I'm 71 and usually shoot anywhere from a 78-84. I have regular flex dynamic gold shafts. I love my 923's. First set of irons that I can actually hit the 5 iron as good if not better than a hybrid.

I’m very close to 70 and I’m gaming JPX 923 HMP’s, with Recoil 95 F3 reg flex shafts.  Love ‘em - they replaced my JPX 919 HMP’s with same shafts.

Thanks for your input.  I guess I need to try the Recoil 95 F3.

Funny thing happened.  I was just looking at the 7 through PW for the Hot Metals or Hot Metal pros, but last night I was looking at the 6-irons.  Ouch, I can see the back of the clubs at address.  I'm not sure I would like that.  The T300 just became top of the list.

68, and playing 919 Hot Metals with Recoil 95 stiff. Considering changing to regular shafts, and the 923s are high on my list.

I have two HM 7-irons on order, with the Recoil 60 gram and Recoil 78 or 80 gram shaft, to see if one of those work for me.  Maybe I need to try the Recoil 95 as well.

I tried the 60 gram shaft during a fitting event, and I picked up some distance, but the dispersion was all over the place. It was too light.

I'm 66 and about an 11 hcp.  I say "about" because I rarely post a score.  I am waiting on a set of 923 HM HL irons with the Recoil 760 shaft.  I tried a number of demo 7 irons and the HL worked better for me than any others.  However, I am a low ball hitter and need the increased launch and spin of the HL.  They are large irons but the size doesn't bother me.

If you're looking for any irons, but especially Mizzies, I 'd get on the MIzuno Shaft Optimizer if you could.  Three swings and I got absolutely the best matches for my swing.

I ended up not liking the 923s as much but got my new irons  with a shaft that was on my recommended list.

I just bought a set of 923 HM's with recoil 95's, they came in yesterday!

I played a mixed set of 919 HM/HMP in 2020 with the same shafts, that was the last time I was not completely sore after golf, but like a million other sets I sold them.

Also, I can't think of a better value in irons

Similar story for me.  71 yrs old, sadly up to a 14 hi.  Loved the feel and limited dispersion of the Srixon zx4 iis, but too low for me and would run forever.  Ended up with the Mizuno 923 HL due to my low launch.  Have i95 Aerotech Steelfiber shafts as I need something heavier.  One of the remarkable changes is that I can use the 6 iron again---haven't carried one in some years.  Very solid, very good height distance.  No surprise, user errors still the biggest problem.

Interesting question. I'm in my mid-60s and playing a split set of Pings (G and iE1s) and looking for new irons. Leaning towards more help with possible candidates being Ping G430 and Mizuno HM 923s.  Not sure which way to lean but like the top line look of the Mizunos better (hard to say coming from a Ping guy), but need to get a fitting to make sure.  Hate to lose my player irons but losing distance and need some help I think. Any thoughts on the 2 irons?

The Mizuno finish holds up better with use, and they sound better.  The Ping's have more bounce, so better for diggers, and, like most Ping's, they have a killer high MOI, helping as much as a club can with off center strike relief.
