I prefer the Allen Iverson approach.

Just use an old 2x4

To practice drills, do this over and over:

Power up the drill.

Adjust the torque so it’s low.

Fit the screw into the slot on the drill bit.

Line up the screw with the hole.

Make sure the drill is vertical.

Pull trigger and Drill.

Once the screw is inserted, stop drilling.

What if it's doing this? I guess if there's smoking or sparking I must be doing it wrong...

When I was teaching full time, I would have golfers do sets 5 minutes with no go ball and then hit 6 shots and repeat

When I personally practice, I focus on 1:1 ratio (1 minute of drill, 1 minute of actual shot)

For example, a common drill is a 3/4 freezer with an 8 iron,

I'm going to practice at 10% speed, 25% speed, 50% speed, 75% speed and then go through my pre shot and hit the drill

Then I'm going to get another ball and hit an actual 8 iron but go through everything like its the golf course

If I'm more testing my ability versus working on technique, I try to keep it to 20 seconds per shot but keeping the focus as if it was the course ... on the course I get 45 seconds per shot per the rules of Golf

Do you hit a fixed number of balls doing whatever drill you are working on & then hit some normal shots to see if the drill is showing up in your swing? Or do you spend the entire session doing the drill/drills? Or some other plan?

For nearly all changes, I’ll do what bortass was told from Monte.

I’m a huge fan of working on changes in my garage with mat/net and the fake squishy balls you get from golf galaxy. No launch monitor or feedback. When I do this, I’ll usually do a drill 3x then hit 5-7 balls or so. A little less of a gap than on the range.

If I have the time, I’ll do a 30-45 min session 2-3 times a day as opposed to a really long session.

About 40-45 minutes total work.

I'm not usually doing 1 drill only. I have about 3 that I do routinely. I'll go through each drill as much as I feel I need.

More time on a drill being used to make a change. Less time.in a drill to reinforce a move.

I'll end by hitting 15-20 balls. Sometimes I use my launch monitor and sometimes I don't.

I do 3 to 4 dry swings in slow motion, working on the problem. Then hit 3 to 4,  1/2 swings.  Repeat.  In 80 balls I probably will not hit 10 at full swing.

As I've said in a few threads, I have not hit many full irons in well over 6 months and I play 4 days a week.  Nearly every shot inside 150 yards I use 1 to 3 clubs more then I need.

I do what Monte talked about at the clinic I attended and he's mentioned it in some of his videos. Do the drill three times and then hit ten balls. Rinse and repeat. I have found I can do three sets in a 20 minute practice block.

I'll also add he suggested to only practice for 20 minutes and then take a 5 minute break. It has to do with how we learn/minds process things. So my practice session is a 20 minute block, 5 min break, 20 minute block, head home.

I thought Monte recommends 3 drills to 1 real swing?  not 3 to 10?

Of lately, what i am doing is 5 exaggerated swings, and then a 50-60% speed swing. I would do this for every ball, about every ten balls Ill do a full speed swing. At home, I use 24 whiffle/foam balls. On the range, I get a 40-50 ball bucket and do similar and then save the last ten balls for driver/woods just to get some hits with them. Might adopt the monte approach although my goal was to get in ~200 reps of new feel a day.

That's not what I recall but I may be wrong. I think in his NTC instagram Q&A video he said 3-5 drills and 10 shots. Some of his other videos have been similar but I think 3 drill swings is what it's been lately. I can't recall his exact words on it from the clinic. I don't think the numbers matter so much versus the concept, which is don't sit and do drills repeated. Do a few and then hit some balls. Repeat the process.

I think part of it has to do with a lot of drills are exaggerations to get a feel. You don't want to actually ingrain the drill into your swing. It's similar to when Padraig said to not practice pitches with a 60+* wedge. You'll ingrain a steeper motion than you want.

AMG has a video on how pros practice and it's not the same as what I outlined above. It was more complex something like 3 drill/1 swing, 2 drill/1swing, 1 drill/1swing, then it was 1 drill/3 swing, 1 drill/2 swings, 1 drill/1 swing.

Really glad to know that my inability to focus for more than 20 minutes actually might be working for me
