To add to what @touch said there is 1 more way to earn points.  Each participant will need to pick 1 team from the NFC and AFC as their preseason Super Bowl picks.  You also need to provide a point total.  These need to be posted before first game of the regular season.  
 

Example:

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles- Total points 70.

If the 2 teams you pick make it to the Super Bowl and your total points are within 7 points, you will earn a 50 point bonus added to the overall standings.

I know the contest is an informal, shats-and-googles one for "bragging rights", but you and Mr. Commish might want to decide what happens if someone TIES with a "Dark Horse" pick; as it could change the season-long winner.

 

From what I saw from page 3 onwards, and I confess I wasn't about to read through too many posts past the intro of the "dark horse", all the talk I saw was about OVER/EXCEEDING the team's projected Vegas win total.

... Yup, take away the fun nonsense and I would be in first. But that ain't the game played here. 🤷‍♂️ I didn't understand the Dark Horse picks and that's on me off course. I just picked what I thought were really dark horses, not teams I thought would exceed their projected wins. All that said I am well ahead in actual betting for actual $ this year so no complaints on my end, although I also do that for fun never betting more than $10. (other than the year long line of Bears winning over 7.5 games that miraculously is still in play)

Big Fish and I are putting the finishing touches on the Playoffs Contest this week. I will give you a sneak peak and tell you that I have created the DIP or Double It Play for the playoffs. We will be picking all the playoff games with the spread as usual but two times you will have the option to use a DIP -Double It Play. That should make chisag and nsx even more disturbed. 😄

I like having an optional Pick Play (like the Power Play) that features better odds, but also features the chance of negative points should you lose that play. 

 

Remember we will be crowning a Regular Season Champ, and Playoffs Champ, and a combined (regular season and playoffs) Overall Champ. So a participant could win one, two, or all three titles this year. 

 

This has been a blast so far and with the Playoffs starting a new contest that will give a fresh start to some of us that currently find ourselves way down south in the standings.

Last year was a completely different format than this year.  So you are correct in that there was no PP.  But this year there was more potential for movement in the standings.

I have tweaked the contest every year that we have done it. We are in our 6th year and no 2 contests have been the same. I think we've had two participants drop out in all those years because they didn't like the rules.

Instead, the "every 4 week" explanation was buried within the thread somewhere, no doubt expecting people to read every post and find such info for themselves.
