And also previously stated by me in this thread, I 💯 understand why they hold out. It’s just biz. That said, it’s not honoring their current contract. I haven’t watched ESPN in months.  The channel is not what it used to be. 
I watch for specific NFL beat writers on the X,  and the fantasy stuff on YouTube.  I still watch NFL network 

I guess I will check in to sports center now that the Orioles are entrenched in the playoff hunt and the beginning of the NFL season.

I don’t really watch either unless there is a game on it. But will “check in” on it once in a while

Well sheesh, I've been required to be out on the golf course all morning.  So I'm late to this discussion.  I'm with chisag and the idealistic approach.  And I'm with Dead Solid on performance-based pay.

 

To put myself in the role as if I was an NFL player, at QB of course, I'd play for whatever I felt I was worth, and probably less.  I'd have to still love playing the game.  But the key thing for me would be all about the city I played in.  There are certain places I'd never play, not because of the quality of the team, but because of the quality of the city. 

 

In my "No Trade" clause I'd never set foot in (except to play an away game there), Detroit, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tampa, KC, Atlanta, some others.  I'd love to play in Miami, New Orleans, San Diego, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco.  I'm a tourist at heart.  And I've lived in several of those cities... nobody traded me there.

 

What 4 or 5 cities would be in your "No Trade" clause?

... I hope you're right. I just see both teams running the ball a lot. They have excellent RB's and good run blocking. For me at least, nothing more boring than 3-5yd contested runs. Some great moves and a breakaway run is always exciting but run, run and run so the defense is on it's heels in the 4th is great strategy if you can pull it off, but boring to watch.

This is fun stuff.  I have a couple of gay friends who own a hair salon one floor above the Black Cat... one of my favorite watering holes.

 

Well, they're both flying out tomorrow night to Denver to attend the opening Bronco game.  Huge fans.  They have a condo here in Fairhaven and fly a Bronco's flag from the rooftop during the season.

 

Danny was at the bar tonight and was quite impressed that I bet on the Broncos in my golf forum contest.  Hell, I just think Wilson's gonna have a good game.

I support it on the rookie contract only because:

1. You’re paid on the draft slot, not the player.  How many times do they say, “He’s a steal here.”

2.  If the player doesn’t live up to the expectation the team doesn’t have to honor the 5th year, so if the player was a steal, they shouldn’t have to either.

 

Average player plays for under 3 years.  Get your money while you can still think and walk.
