2024 Sun Mountain 2.5+

Agreed. Thanks for posting. I love my new Hoofer Lite and I’m wondering how much lighter this would carry than that. I always carry and I almost always have 13 clubs with me.

It carries lighter but Hoofer Lite balances much better on the shoulders.  Hoofer Lite is the better all around bag imo.  But if you have a day where you're looking to walk 36 and want to go as light as possible the 2.5+ can't be beat.

Ordered a 2024 to check it out since no local Sun Mtn dealers.  It's pretty solid, new styling is an improvement imo.  Probably not a keeper though...

Your reviews of these ultra light bags are really good. How come?

i know you said hoofer light above but i hate tangle.

I just replaced my 2019 2.5+ which I loved. I have a 2021 or 22 one which I don’t like nearly as much. Wish aomeone still had stock of rhe 2019 one lol.

Main reason is the price tag.  I can get '22 model for ~$100 less.  Might go that route, but '24 does look a lot better imo.

Thanks for your thoughts on these two bags. Really appreciate it.

I have had a version of a hoofer since I was a teenager. I’m almost 40 now lol

I bought the 2023 2.5 back in January. It’s light and does the job. But agree, the straps are different. Thinking of picking up a hoofer lite just because I like the styling better.

I've played/walked the 2.5's for 5 plus years.  My choice has always been based upon weight, straps, durability and club tangle pretty much in that order.  The 2.5 was the winning choice.  My only beef with the 2.5's is the pocket above the ball pocket.  It should be a smidge larger so that a range finder fit easily.  The less crap hanging off the bag the better imo.  Have you seen the Sun Mountain Baron?  That is the type pocket I would imagine.

I could see that being an issue with a range finder.  I use a Phantom 2 GPS unit that works best in my pants pocket, so no issues with the bag pockets.  Agree the less stuff hanging the better.  I don't use any of the loops as I have nothing to hang.  Might cut them off if I keep it.

@brew4eagle you might have answered this in another thread but what’s your opinion of the more squared off top/dividers on the 2.5? I liked the look of the old round top better but is functionality better with this new style? Your head covers look awesome with that bag btw.

I also prefer the older rounded top, but the new top may provide a bit more space.  Usually have a big towel draped over the top anyways, so indifferent about it.

Thanks for posting. I've pretty much always used Sun Mountain bags. However, imo the looks of their bags (graphics, colour schemes, padding etc.) has declined substantially over the past 3-4 years. Perhaps 2024 will be a return to form for them?

I'm currently experimenting with a Jones Trouper 2.0 which is likely going up for sale soon. There's just too many things about my old Sun Mountain that I like better.

Anyone compare to the ping craz e light bag? I have the ping and the only knock is the horrible club tangle. Always a battle putting clubs in and out.

The 2.5+ is a much better bag imo.  Can't beat the 2.5+ in the ultralight category.

In a surprise upset I ended up selling my beloved Hoofer Lite and kept the '24 2.5+.  Carrying my pictured half set is so light it's basically like having a caddie.

I’m thinking about making this change. I love so much about my hoofer lite but I’m really struggling with club tangle. I’ve had hoofer lites before so I know all the tricks but it seems to be worse this time around for whatever reason. Why did you  settle on the 2.5?

do ya find the legs kinda get in the way when you're pulling it up onto your shoulder?

My old one didn't have that problem, but for whatever reason the legs somehow seem to get in my way on the new one i have (last years model).

No, haven't noticed any issues.  They snap up super fast and 0 droop

No idea why

Just messed with it and no issues.  I lift the top handle with my left hand as I'm also lifting the right shoulder strap.  Legs snap up well before they could hit my own leg.

I am interested in getting a 2.5+ and currently deciding between the 2023 and 2024 models. I saw in another post of yours it looks like you have owned the 2023 bag as well. I wanted to get your opinion on what might work better for me. I plan to use the bag with 14 clubs and would like to make sure the 2024 version would work for me since I saw that the top is now 7.5 inches instead of 9 inches on the 2023. Does the 2024 bag still have plenty of room for a full set or would I be better off getting last year's model?

I agree.  Their color choices these last few years are not my taste.  Unfortunately, the 2024 are following the same pattern.  The golf bag market overall appears to be going retro with 70s and 80s vinyl-like fabric and colors.

2024 style is subdued vs past years imo, colorways here-

Historically, does Sun Mountain run any Black Friday sales? I was pretty set on a 2023 but then a 2024 colorway caught my eye, I just can't justify the extra $80 for a darker shade of blue.

Not that I'm aware of, and they control prices pretty well.  Could try DD for a quote.
