Callaway AI Smoke Triple Diamond MAX?

Got out with the 9* today. Compared to standard TD, it’s definitely but not drastically less anti- left, launches higher, and spins more but not in a bad way. Doesn’t have the nuclear bomb in it like TD does, but the extra spin really helps the ball fight to hold line. TD Max is a bit like bowling with bumpers by comparison.

What weight configuration did you use? Heavy weight in front or back?

It’s not showing up when you select your driver but when you put it in the cart and add a club to trade in it worked for me. See attached image. Got a $600 credit for my ai smoke max. They owe me a penny.

I just went by the little banners on each driver. (💎max didn’t have the banner on it) on the driver page.
Great to know. 
 
I wonder if they’ll let me trade after I pre ordered on 5/31 ?

I traded in my Ai smoke max. Got the td max plus 2 dozen chrome soft golf balls for $43. They would not do the transaction with them owning me money. Plush when I logged in my callaway account I have first responder discount already added in so I basically paid for a dozen gold balls.

I just emailed them asking if I can trade my TSR2 for x2 pts even though I ordered a few days ago.. and the order isn’t close to shipping yet. 
I won’t get my hopes up. 😂

Really was an amazing deal espically if you have the smoke max already it’s basically a free upgrade bit you have to purchase something cheap like a glove. So just spend $10 and you get a free upgrade. I don’t need the Denali shaft so I’ll just send the old one back with the Denali.

Have a AI Smoke Max 10.5 - bought the head only.

 

Ordered TD Max 10.5 through Callaway website last night. Love the Max 10.5, but pretty sure I’ll prefer the TD Max head. Like others have said, I didn’t catch the 2x trade-in pts offer. Is the best option to cancel existing order & place a new order w/trade-in?

 

If I end up preferring the Max over the TD Max head, will Callaway allow a simple return of the TD Max after it’s been hit(supposing no damage)?

Put my TD Max order in today. I was able to trade in an AI one putter I got locally for 150 and an old super hybrid I wasn't having luck selling. After those trades i owed them nothing. In fact I had to add a hat to use all the trade. Pretty killer deal. Hope I get it soon.

Does it still help control toe strikes like the TD? I know I should go head to head in the fitting bay but the 2x deal and some CPO purchases I can make to sweeten the deal have me wanting to impulse buy.

I would say it does, yes. I have yet to see a Niekro Special toe strike from it.

Thanks. Also would you recommend people stay in a lower loft in the max vs lofting up in the TD due to low spin?

When I’m in the checkout screen it reflects 2x pts on the trade. But when I go to checkout there it seems like it takes it away and only gives me 1x credit. Am I missing something?

 

edit: never mind, got it to work. User error . Pretty sick deal to sell two clubs I never use and get this for $140 shipped

That will likely be fine...for most. 9* TD Max hits the launch and spin numbers for me, but 10.5 * was clearly the better choice in the TD. 

 

Not really comfortable making a blanket recommendation like that, even though I kind of just did; too many variables to consider.

I see a much clearer performance delineation between the TD and TD Max than I expected to. The differences really are about like described by JW and a few others.  If you're willing to sacrifice some ease of use/playability but hit some of the biggest thermonuclear bombs you can produce, then TD is it. If you want a driver that holds line better in the second half of the trajectory but are willing sacrifice the huge bomb to get that, then Max TD is the clear choice.

If you love everything about the original TD but wish it spun about 10-15% more, TD Max is likely what you're looking for.

Love the max as well but the weight track whistles on my takeaway and downswing 😂😂. I have duct tape over it. No weight track on the TD max, the non whistle will be the reason I prefer the td head.

I ordered stock with the 10.5⁰ head. I just checked and it told me the 9⁰ head is 2-3 weeks out as well.

The "Backorder - 1-2 Weeks" and "Backorder - 2-3 Weeks" are just default callaway timelines after you place an order. Within 2-4 days it will either ship or you'll see an actual timeframe.

Yeah I just went in and checked order status and it said 8/28 - 9/3.  Hoping it’s not that long.  Order status is “received”.  Thinking it might change as I literally order about 6 hours ago

Can you check your order status and let me know what it says?  You’ll need to enter the actual order number.  In the cart it says 2-3 weeks
