Yes, but it's seriously low spin.  I've seen a 10.5 in lefty recently.  Couldn't play it, so I have the TD model with a bit of tour sauce added.

450CC, neutral bias, taller face like a TD, but a little more stretched back for slightly more MOI. Obviously tweaks here and there due to the weight distribution and chassis difference.

 

The MOI difference is only to the tune of several hundred points if that at all.

 

You would need to be really pedantic to NEED this model. Current comps (10cc more) that are easily available and very similar are the Max LS models and the Paradym standard 'tour only' front weight model from last year....or just find a Mavrik Max Single Diamond TC on ebay for $200. The only thing you're exchanging between all these is the 10CC of volume and face height. Marginal differences in adjustability and F/D bias.

 

So how does this compare to the Smoke Max in playing or performance terms?

My head pro has the TD MAX  and let me hit 20 balls at the range.  The best way to describe it is it's a blend of the TD and the MAX.  TD is pretty fade biased and the MAX is neutral to slightly draw biased.  TD MAX is dead neutral much like the Paradym TD from last year.  It's low spin and slightly more forgiving than the TD.  Smoke TD MAX also looks slightly different from the TD in that it doesn't quite look as deep faced.

Apparently clay was able to get his hands on one and took very detailed measurements against the other models on this Instagram post 

 

The ai smoke heads are higher lofted than stated apparently - and the triple diamond max model is only 100pts less in moi but about 800 more than the regular Td model

There’s so much misinformation on here regarding TC vs TS that it is moot. It makes no difference if you’re not getting one off the Tour Truck with known specs. 
 

The goal shouldn’t be to flip this because it has a TI or TC on it.

I agree, but the whole point of a tour issued head regardless of model in question is the specs. Without the specs it might as well say F or V and not TC or TA.

 

The distinction lies mostly with the sticker that comes with the TC heads from the truck as the reason for getting the hard to find item.

 

So for those who just want a tweener head between the TD and Max model and dont care about FA or loft then this will be great. For those who want specifically an open face at a certain angle or etc, this release is not as exciting.

Exactly 👍 my point. Well summed up. Only thing I don’t agree with about the excitement around the release - the excitement will come from the price point and as close to TI without the sticker.

It's for those don't want the fade bias of the smoke TD and a touch more spin.

I'm misunderstanding your comment.  Wouldn't pre-sale precede the release?  Or does the term "release" just indicate a date that it's being announced by Callaway as a thing.  Then you can order it shortly thereafter?

 

And lastly, are you sure of this date of the 21st?  I'm holding off on buying the current TD based on this notion.  I prefer a driver like the TSR3 that is a 'better player's' moderately low spin, neutral face example.  The thought of a TD Max scratches me where I itch.

Looks like I'm going to be using my 3w as my driver for the next month.  Why even have a "pre-sale"?  Just announce it and sell it.

I’ve seen a few lefty versions pop up on eBay. And Akshay B had one for a minute before he switched out of it, so I am hopeful
