Order of Play

Most younger players are encourage to play ready golf in stroke play events around here. To be honest, going last is an advantage most of the time, so if guys want to jump out first.....

Junior tournaments play ready golf, this is probably just a carryover from that and nothing more.  Honestly, outside of match play, the entire honors system needs to just go away in favor of ready golf.

That's what I'm saying, if somebody wants to hit before me I'm all for it.   I like to see how the wind is impacting the ball on a particular hole among a few other things.

You are a slow player. You are *choosing* not to go 1st, and letting someone else do it. As I mentioned, I have a couple guys that are slow in my league. They will have some damn excuse to not be ready to go when the tee is open, lagging back, for exactly your posted reason. And when pressured "you have the tee", their exact response "you go ahead, it's ready golf, right?" 

So, you either suffer their wrath for making them go first "BuT I tHoUgHt We WeRe PlAyInG rEaDy GoLf!?!?!" and the delay while they fumble around and the tee wide open, or you succumb to their ploy on your good graces that you will just go, "because if you're ready, it's YOU holding us up, not ME!!!" *&^%ing insufferable.

my league plays ready golf , get to your ball or next tee and hit it. 

 

personally I do whatever the group wants in casual play.

If I'm walking up to a tee box with somebody in my group, and they give me the "i'll go", it sure does, and that's usually how that happens.   The guys I play with don't mess around, none of us care to watch grass grow.

I'm posting this for anecdotal purposes only. In my group, birdies have informal honors. If you preempt, you get *politely* razzed, particularly if the golf gods get you. The reason is only to acknowledge good play among friends. Otherwise, it's pure ready golf. Do not dick around on the tee box.
