How many back issues has Jason Day had in the past decade??

Is this the same swing he had a decade ago, and if not, why did he switch to this move over the old one? 😛

More backswing hip turn and earlier right elbow unload to flatten the shaft.  I guess AMG was right. 😜

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

This reminds me of a discussion a few years back.  I said the lead arm needs to start releasing off the chest no later than P5.  Someone posted a video of Jason Dufner saying he tries to set his arm across his chest and just turn.  I had seen his 3D recently before that and he unloads it pretty early.  Rose has trouble keeping it pinned.  That’s why different players need different, sometimes opposite feels to get the same result.  As long as the feel creates proper movement, it’s a good feel.  Random feels that work one day….no good.  Feels that are a means to an end are not bad, even if they are putrid sounding.

I can die now a contented man. Monte comments on a post I made. Mr. Sheinblum, sir, your videos on the short game years ago helped this old man a great deal. Thank you sir!

My swing is "short", but I have good shoulder turn, so my feel of "short" creates enough proper movement for me, which is about as deep an analysis I can get for an 8 handicap 74-year old duffer.

Perfect swing is a relatively subjective term IMO.  However, I think that Sean O'Hair has the prettiest swing on tour followed by Adam Scott.

He just let his right hip turn more on the backswing to protect his back and limited his hand depth a touch at the top to promote a fade. Very subtle changes.

There's a bit more to it than that, including the right arm extension/lowering/whatever-you-wanna-call-it that he does on the downswing to limit the need to right-side-bend.

I'm pretty busy and don't have time to sit around and post all day long. To answer your question in his old swing  he's swinging the cub more linearly. He's turning and the club is swinging wide and away from him.

The video did a good job of explaining Jason's more rounded swing. In the new swing the club is more on a circular dynamic plane. The club works with him instead of against him.

I noticed that too - very subtle indeed but I could see how that could protect the back a bit more.

You can hit the ball harder with less effort working with the club instead of working against the club.

I guess we can add “effort“ to the list of words for which you have a very strange definition.

I guarantee you long drivers are putting tremendous effort into hitting the ball far.
