The IC-601 was the worst iron ever made, had a custom set  built and they were terrible. Played 5 rounds with them and dumped them.

These look better and more than likely feel better but unless you just want the name it is pointless.

And the lofts are not that strong for the class they are in, 40 deg. 9 iron is almost a players iron anymore.

They're a hard pass for me. For Miura to come out with something like this almost seems like a punishable offense.

google 8620 irons and pxg shows up. I'm going to start a rumour/suspicion  that all 8620 comes from subcontracted factories in china.

That wouldn't be a rumor.

Agree Jim. If this is the type of iron ya want, there are plenty of other options at hundreds less. IMO you pay for Miura when ya want some of the finest forged irons available. As you said, these would be solely for the name recognition. But as always, to each their own 😊

I believe I'm correct in the fact that the largest supplier in the world of 1020 carbon steel is in India.

Coming from the Japanese knife world. I can confidently say 90% of what is sold in the knife industry comes from hitachi steel Ltd. No matter the maker. Companies are legally bound to what they can advertise, so nobody gives more information on their steel that what is told to them. So in my mind, if companies continually advertise 'AISI 8620' and a traditionally made iron is done in Japan. Clearly, they went to a factory that makes these hollow body irons, and contracted them to produce irons with their name. Just like papa Miura said, "Titleist japan contracts iron heads from us, we don't know where they go after."  ----  Same thing that i see in the golf ball world, where we all see 335 dimples, and infer that its the same factory as another ball. Because the factories in the manufacturing background advertise to these brands in the same way they advertise to us.

I'm sure that Miura has the highest standard for these clubs though, what ever the company they got is, this is probably that companies top offering. Its their name on the product and they probably would not want to have their 'top shelf' name associated with anything second rate.
