Random question of the day (Putter loses its "Mojo"?)

Good morning....

 

The other day I played 18 holes with my son-in-law, and 2 of his buddies.  Beautiful course, semi-private within one of those HOA communities.  We all were hitting straight, and sometimes teeing off with a Hybrid due to a severe dogleg left.  Anyway, the greens were vicious, two tiered, and even somewhat tilted sideways, causing you to have a 6 foot breaking putt! 😲  Getting to the point, we all sucked at putting!  Two putting every single hole, and once even three putting!  Grrrr...  I don't know if it was me or perhaps my beautiful Odyssey White Hot XG somehow lost it's "mojo".  I couldn't sink a putt to save my life!  So... once I got back home, I got out my old Pings, another old Odyssey, and practiced in the livingroom on one of those 8' putting mats.  I put my Odyssey White Hot in "time out" and believe it or not... Somehow, someway, I don't understand, but my old 1983 Ping B60 was the winner amongst my collection.  Hmmm.... Have you ever switched putters after a bad round?

Definitely. Confidence inspires good putting, and if you lose confidence in your putter you’re doomed for a good putting round.

I’ve literally just done it now. The spider tour x holes more birdie putts but it’s the mid range putts it seems to constantly burn the hole rather than drop. So it’s on time out and my trusted 2008 Scotty is going back in.

Gotta put the putter in time out so it can have a good long think and bring another one out.

About every other round, one of my playing partners refers to me as a putter polygamist

My putters don’t go in timeout or suspension…they get traded off the roster. I’ve never had the mojo return once it’s truly lost

My putters go behind the water heater when they misbehave.  Depending on the severity of their sins, the banishment will vary.  I have at JAT, Anser, SIk Armlock, 8802, Bullesye and a new #9.  Usually at least 2 of them are behind the water heater.  I had a Cleveland that was Banished for more than 2 years.  It never got back in the bag.  It was in two pieces.   I eventually sold the head on BST.  A putter that is not being punished, but is just out of the rotation, hangs out in the Rec room near the putting mat.

The way I putt when one of my putters gets benched, it’s happy. It’s just as tired of me as I am of it.

Sometimes I need to shake things up to fool myself into thinking it's the club, not me.

Your putter didn't lose its "mojo" you just played a tough course with "you guys couldn't figure out the slick two tiered why the h*ll did they pit the pins there breaking greens." The giveaway is you only had ONE 3 putt. You guys can putt just not those greens, it happens. ☺

Thanks, guys.... To my surprise my old Ping B60 is working for me. I guess it is what it is, and I'll roll with it.... I've been practicing and practicing here in my livingroom on the putting mat. Sorry, for the glare from the afternoon sun shining in the picture window. Anyone ever play a Ping B60? Remember these?

I’ve always been a firm believer that time in a dark closet always improves a putters performance…… I have 3 putters and if my gamer isn’t making any putts after a few rounds it goes into the closet for some reflection. Plus sometimes just a different look can jump start your putting.

Nick Faldo won several majors and lots of tournaments with a B-60.

Yeah one 3 putt on what sounds like very tricky and slick greens is impressive. I'd be praising that putter unless you had like five 2 foot birdy putts that were missed lol
