I wouldn't even play the game with a regular pace of play like that. And probably the only places on the planet I would tolerate it would be Cypress Point, Pine Valley, Augusta or St. Andrews.

Anyone played Troy Burne recently? Always seems to be in great shape, etc. But, wondering if they plugged greens this year or not?

Usually around $65 walking. Almost every time I've played Spring or Fall rate there, the course is under some major maintenance and its generally not worth it.
One fall day, they had crews of guys sweeping up aeration plugs from the fringes around all the greens. You were just supposed to keep playing and pray you didn't bean any of them. Super un-nerving experience. Super dusty too with the fairways being aerated. I hate their "specials." They're special, alright.

Took the day off tomorrow to play my more than likely last round of the year at Tanner's Brook. Looking forward to taking advantage of an awesome fall day in MN. Don't get too many of these late in the season.

Fall rates are $59.99 walking or riding. Course was in good shape when I played it about a month ago.

Oak Glen was in great shape today. Greens were a bit slow but rolled smooth and true. New Bio Cell Pro worked great today!

Cool. Haven't played it in forever. I can only bring myself to play it/pay it in spring or fall, and the course maintenance going on early/late has led to some less than enjoyable conditions/rounds, unfortunately. September was probably still warm enough. They must need the biz, as they used to not lower rates until pretty late in the season as I recall.

Oak Marsh greens were not "punched" and rolled nice. Course was in nice condition.

Troy Byrnes was in fantastic shape... They did not plug yet, either...

I know some course (jewel for instance) isn't plugging this Fall.

Troy Burne had punched before labor day so I kind of doubt they would do it again this fall. Wish courses up north could get by without it. Played Mesaba country club in Hibbing today another tough day of putting due to deep tining. Was a beautiful day though.

Love Stone Ridge not cheap but seems to always be in good shape. Around $60 weekends

Made it up to Nikeville's back yard today at Northfork. Hit it just at the right time of day and had it all to myself. Hit and walk. It was awesome.
Made par on every hole on the front and birdied #10. Bogey on #12 and I was even going into #15. Bogey train 4 holes to end it. Wind was whipping pretty good by the end. Got kinda hosed on #16 with my approach. #15 and #16, Uggh. 76. It was a good day. Walked it in 3 hours and had many snacks. ha!

It was pretty good. Greens had healed and rolled well. Fairways and fringes were aerated and had holes. Had a couple shots hit the fringe and die on approach and short game shots. But it was pretty darn good. I like that course. Except for #15 and #16. ha!

Played Willingers today for the 1st time. Nice course, kind of in the middle of nowhere though.

I enjoyed it when I played there too. Beautiful property. Were the leaves all down? Fall colors there must be fantastic!

Creeksbend and Boulder Point are good layouts in the area also. There's some interesting terrain down south of the cities compared to the swamps in the northern suburbs. Some rolling hills and really nice views down there.

Just not ready to relinquish this season yet myself. I think I might go a little batty when that first snow hits. My game has sort of come around the last six or so weeks and it's been a real blast to play with my dad this Summer. At his age and in his health I worry how many more Summers we have left. I need to rig up a range mat and net in my garage soon for this Winter if nothing else just to get swings in when I get squirly.

I agree usually drive to the Twin Cities during deer hunting to play. So the clubs are staying in the vehicle until the snow is on the ground to stay.
