Minnesota wrx's?

Went there with my dad and son. It's turning into an annual thing for us. Highlight of the day was getting Lee Trevino to sign a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T ad that he was featured in. Since I have a pair of 69 Charger's this ad has been in my collection for a while. It's now the "featured" ad in the set.

Got to brag a little. My son took home the league champ and end of year tourney champ. Yes it's a small 9 hole course that's a par 33 kind of a crappy course but not a ton of options up north here. Anyway he's 12 and loves the game. Proud of him and how he went for it. Just got to get him into more competitions. He does want to play high school golf and will be in the 7th grade. Our school allows 7th and 8th graders play or atleast be on the team. So let see where this goes.

Had been forever since I played Manitou Ridge, my old stomping grounds. Place is just in great shape, maybe nicest in my existence. Even putting up new maintenance facilities/storage to the tune of $1.1+ million. Great day, and happy to have equalled my best round of the year. Even par 71 with three birdies.
Hadn't played for two weeks to rest the body and mind. Time away always seems to reset my game. Great range session before the round got me square to the ball finally. Had three drives over 320. After some of my worst driving of the year, it was great to play from fairways.

Played Bulrush today - $12 for 18 with cart on the 'Net. Fantastic course. Played it from the tips at just over 6.9K yards. Greens were in very nice shape and fairways were good. Front 9 is like a links course and back 9 fairway lined trees and tougher. Great course.

Are houses going up around the course yet? That's an outstanding deal. Not a good omen, I have a feeling.
We had a WRX event up there last fall and it was a fun course. Those greens were nice. Weather was not on our side that day, however.

That's odd - my old man and me were talking about the same thing. There are a few random houses scattered around the course but there was a lot of land that wasn't touched. We didn't think that the course will be there in 15 or 20 years as there is no way to keep a course viable at those rates. Very nice course though.

I was the Assistant Pro out there last year, no houses will go up until the road gets taken care of. People own the lots adjacent to the course but until the road is repaved properly its not worth it to build on them.Did you book through golf now or some other third party? I've been following how they've been doing from a far and whole they aren't having a good year I don't think they've started offering rounds for less than the cart fee.

It was an Online website my father got the deal from. I'm not sure which site but I'll ask him. He's always getting good deals. Heck of a journey though even just from the East Side of St. Paul. 50 smack dab on the odo from the house to the course and 50 back.

I played from the tips and was only 1 over after 6 and then hit a hook OB and quadrupled that very playable par 4 #7. Parred the next two holes but made a mess of the back 9.

I know Bulrush uses golfnow, ezlinks/teeoff.com, and golf18network.com (maybe more). I know it must be tough to get people to come to Rush City, but not sure how they plan to make any money by offering rounds on every prepaid discount site possible.

They are on ez links/teeoff because that's the POS and reservation system that they use and they give up 2 tee times a day in return for that. They are on golf 18 because golf 18 has to sell a certain number of tee times for the course before they receive any revenue. I'm not sure why they are on golfnow again, I had us stop using them last year because the only rounds booked through there were the hot deal. You're right its not easy to get people up to rush city and that's why as nice of a course as it is, you can fly around there in under 4 hours at pretty much any time.

My dad and I played it in 3:40 - which is fine by me. No one really in front of us nor behind, until 18 when a group of 3 caught up.

Factoring in gas to get up there and back, we reckon it was about $19 a piece, which is fine since it included a cart. It's just that you have to devote another 1:30 hours (at least) with the commute. We liked the course so much though that we will make the trek back up there in a month or so.

What kind of vehicle do you drive? I was only spending about $12 a day in gas driving a Buick getting 16ish mpg and I drove every day from St Paul

I should make a hike up there again and try it in nice weather. I could hardly feel my hands it was so cold when we started last fall. I'm on the north end of the cities and its still a hike up there and back. Knowing a little more about the course now, I need to exact revenge on the back 9. It's definitely tight on some holes back there.

Thanks to linkerpan for good company today at Tanners. Nice day. Played with a guy and his h.s. age daughter, 15, who really hit a nice long tee ball.
Skydivers were jumping out above. Overcast. Course was firm and fast. Club champ is going on this weekend. Greens were pretty quick but nothing scary. Wish I had a little more time to hit some balls before the round. Didn't let a triple-bogey start on the first two holes get to me, and kept it respectable after that. 77. Nice morning/afternoon.

It was a fun afternoon at Tanners, even when the group behind us got a bit animated hitting their drivers when we still were at a reachable distance. The ground supervisor said greens were around 10.5, and I was skeptical until I started to putt. Out of this trip came that Divots and I will be soon exploring Victory Links, hopefully we can get some WRXs to join us.
