I personally find it really pathetic that you are griping about riding in a cart. I NEVER use a cart, and doubt I ever will. Walking is part of the game. It is excercise, even though i could argue that it isnt because I ran cross country and played basketball during highschool, but for many people, it is a sufficient amount of excercise. For you to have your dad 'appeal' to a club for not letting you drive a cart is ludacris. And the fact that you think you will get more practice in with a cart is bullxxxx.

The course that I work at has banned carts all together, due to laziness, and lack of responsibility. And my soon to be home course, Bandon Dunes, is also anti-riding-cart. And i think a lot of courses should follow suit.

I enjoy riding in a cart. You play faster, it's more relaxing and you definitely aren't bothered as much by the heat. That being said, I walk about 98% of my rounds because juniors arent allowed to take out carts (you have to be 18- wtf? My friend had his full liscence and still couldn't get a cart because he wasn't 18 yet). Walking is a part of the game. I still enjoy walking. I figure that I'm not gonna be a touring pro because frankly, I'm just not good enough; 16 y/o, 6 handicap, never broken 80 in a tournament, never won a real tournament, never gotten a hole-in-one or eagle, never broken par for 18- bottom line, I'll never amount to a great golfer. I might be a scratch golfer or even a plus handicap, but never good enough to be a touring pro unless I really get my sh*t together fast. So I try to enjoy myself on the course. When I'm older, in hot weather, you'll be able to find me in a cart. I'll still walk, and I do walk 98% of my rounds, I just prefer carts. I'll do either one, golf is great either way. :drinks:

EDIT: BROKE PAR TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME! SHOT 71! MAYBE I CAN KNOCK OFF A FEW MORE OF THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS WITH SOME TOURNAMENTS COMING UP. However, it still doesn't change my outlook on becoming a pro.

I like walking better because I can think about the course and my shots and I feel more connected. Riding in a cart is not one of my favorite things to do, and you really don't play faster. My teammate and I finished 18 in 3 hours 30 minutes so that was pretty fast walking. Plus the benefits on my body are mainly because of always walking, I feel better and am no longer tired after golfing. I'm pretty sure I can use a cart at my course but I can't imagine myself playing by myself with a cart... the only time I'm in one is when I'm with my mom or my dad if it is crazy humid.

OH YEAH.... you find the best stuff while walking... money, ballmarks, balls, divot tools... EVERYTHING!!

Yea, I work at my local muni, so I haven't walked in a LONG time. To be honest with you thou, I think it has made me a worse golfer. I should start walking again. I think it is easier to play well while you are walking.

The course I play at will not allow you to walk. They put some holes so far apart and up such steep hills so far apart that it would be impossible to even walk. Being "chubby" I'm going to see if I can just play hole 1-4 4 times in a row so I can walk instead of ride.

Need the exercise. Good golfer, out of shape.

im not 16 yet but i get a cart all the time because the course i play isn't well marked and the cart have GPS on them for yardages so thats cool.........and before everyone gets on my a** for not walking I walk between most shots because i play with one of my friends who i like and everything but he screws around to much while we are playing so i like being alone while he and the other two kids im playing with ride up to their balls. Plus its less waiting for me when i get to my ball.........and it kinda feels like he is my little bi**h driving all my clubs around for me like a caddy haha

At my course, if you own a cart and keep it in a shed, anyone can drive a cart. I walk a lot, but the cart is great to have on hot summer days.(Also, I drive the coach around during golf practice and i cant practice):drinks: I just turned 14 so im not on the team, but my reward for driving the coach around is i get to play in some of the tournaments (and i beat them ) our school only has about 350 kids K-12 so other schools dont care

I work in the pro shop of a local course that you have to be 21, yes, 21 to drive a cart. Insurance reasons. I'm under 21 and even though I work there I'm not allowed to driver them durring a round of golf. I have to driver them all over the course for different reasons for work though so I think I should be able to take one durring a round if I wanted to. But I can see why some other members under 21 would have a problem with that.

I don't have to consider driving vs. walking. My course only has one "course marshal" cart. But when I work there I drive it all the time.

I think I need to weigh in on the heat thing. Here in Sydney I played a 5 and a half hour round in 42* CELCIUS heat with 90% humidity. I win! :drinks:

What do I get? :D
