Which ball is best for hard greens

I have recently moved golf clubs and i am having trouble stopping the ball on the green , it seems to take a bounce forward then stops and it's almost impossible to stick a 7 iron close. The greens are a lot faster and harder than my old club. I currenly ust Taylormade TP red and i can generate quite a lot of spin but i feel that they are to hard for the course , great for hitting long drive but to hard for around the green

The harder the green, the more important height is in stopping the ball vs. spin. If you lack the swingspeed to spin 3 piece balls enough (lets say ~100 mph with the driver), the lower launch will hurt you overall in terms of being able to hold greens. 2 piece balls will launch higher off your irons and wedges.

Btw, a pelz study showed height was a more important factor than spin in stopping the ball in general, since most of the "stopping" power of a shot comes from the first bounce and the way it interacts with the turf.

if u want to stick with the same brand the tp black ldp has more spin than the red but the black feels firmer if that makes sense....

I also found that it had a higher launch angle with all clubs, so that would help it stop on the firmer greens. The poster above is right in saying that height is more important than spin. Sure, you need spin to stop the ball, but if it's coming in low on a hard green, it's going to have one hell of a first bounce or two before the spin can do anything.

While I agree that height is a major factor in stopping a ball on the green spin should not be underrated. In my foursome there is a guy who can stop Slazenger Raw Distances on the hardest greens because when his ball hits the green it is coming straight down and leaves a crater to prove it. When he misses the green his short game frustrates him and cost him shots because he wants to be able to play the finese shots but his ball type will not allow it. While I may lose some distance off the tee to him, being able to save those shots around the green is extremely important to what my game is built around. I hit a lower, much lower ball flight. I have to have the spin to stop my shots. I too play on some hard greens in the summer time and have to figure in the huge hop the ball it going to take. Nothing more frustrating than landing the ball short of the green and having to figure out how big of a hop there is for a front pin placement. While the previous comment is correct about any premium ball working I would try a couple sleeves and see what it right for your game. Some balls claim distance, including the new Pro V1, but what you lose it the touch and feel. Just watch the golf on the PGA tour. This "drop and stop" technology that Titleist has brought to the game is recking havoc on the front pin placements and the firmer greens at this weeks events. The gap for landing the ball, having it hop up the ridge and then stopping is making for more long puts and missed greens. Even the pros don't have the spin that they used to. It is all about being creative in your shots and playing the best ball for your game. Even if it is not the #1 ball in golf.

I oppose coming in high because wind has to much influence over outcome, factor in hard fast undulated greens, ball can end up just about anywhere. I prefer a low-mid trajectory and rely on spin, reason I play Callaway ix and now TM TP Red LDP.

I regularly face small hard and fast undulated greens at a two courses, another has really fast greens but holds if the player spins the ball. Either way my solution is never go at pins, always play to the front of the green and let ball run out finishing the middle or middle back.

Some holes I'll even play to land short of the green; maybe take an extra club and play a knock down shot, bounce once and let it run on to the green, much like links golf.

Without digressing into your equipment and swing, the B330S, ProV1, and Nike One Platinum are good choices. If those won't stop, then you will have to look at other factors as suggested above, such as shot selection, equipment, etc.

Driver: Callaway XR Pro, Project X LZ, 6.0
3 wood: Callaway XR Pro, Project X LZ. 6.0
Hybrids: Cobra BioCell, Project X, 6.0

Wedges: Vokey 56.08, 1* up
Putter: SC Futura X5R, 35 in

Srixon Z-stars. Even slow swingers can stop the ball.

I'd also rec'd the Cally Tour Series.
