Titleist Premium Stand Bag vs Ping 4-Under

I just picked up the Titleist in all black and only have two complaints, which are pretty standard ones:
a. The bag must be turned sideways to fit on a (riding) cart.
b. The putter well is too deep which causes the headcover on my putter to bunch up and possibly fall off.

The bag is very nice otherwise, and has lots of room for storage. I use a midsize Titleist staff bag most of the time, and the Premium has almost as much storage.

X2 exactly my thoughts.

Is this confirmed? Is it this bag - http://www.titleist.com/accessories/carry_bags/premium.asp ? My buddy has it and says it doesnt have to sit on the cart sideways. Also, is it definitely made by Sun Mtn?

Every time I've loaded it onto a cart, I've had to turn the bag sideways. I'm not questioning your buddy, but it's probably more the exception than the rule that you can load it straight in.

Haven't seen the bag but you could probably insert foam rubber in the putter well to take up the excess space

Thanks for the feedback. I am deciding between the Premium and the Lightweight bag. Leaning towards the Premium. The 2011 design seems awesome. What color did you get blkjazz?

Take a look at Sun Mountain SLX before you make any decision.

I'm thinking of buying the 2011 Premium stand bag model as well and am a bit concerned about the bag not fitting in the bag well of my clubs golf carts.

I'm deciding on the Premium or the Lightweight stand bag. I like the color options in the lightweight model, but i like the extra room for the clubs in the premium model.

Can anyone confirm if both bags fit easily in a golf cart bag well?

No problem with the 2011 Premium fitting on carts. I don't know about the Lightweight.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up going with the Lightweight model. It's lighter, cheaper and i liked the color scheme better.

I got a brand new Ping Voyage on e-bay. Will never buy anything but Ping until someone can:

1) get rid of the horrible stand mechanism that (as people have commented) forces you to turn the bag sideways on a cart; and

2) get rid of the horrible harness strap. I hate that more than anything. The Ping dual straps are so much more comfortable and convenient.

Soon, I Can comment on about every Titleist bag, as I will have 3. I been bagging the red cart bag this summer. I just bought a semi-lightweight stand bag (6 way dividers) for walking. I also just got the 14 way premium stand bag, awaiting delivery. See my thread for rhyme behind the reason... I think there is one lighter weight bag I am not getting, maybe one anyway... I think my lightweight is around 4 pounds, there could be one about 3.

I am about to come to the conclusion that part of the issue is NOT the bags, but the cart manufacturers scrimping on bag storage space. EZ-Go carts at my course I play most do not allow very large bag bases, not even my premium cart bag fits well either. In the end, it can sit on top, and causes little problems as long as you drive sensibly. I don't like riding with others, I like to drive and take care of things.

I'm about to get the Titleist Lightweight cart bag, so I'll have some comments soon. Right now I have an older model Hoofer (~1999?) and a new 4-Series. The 4-Series gets high marks for weight and storage and seems well built, but the clubs get terribly tangled in the bottom; moreso than the Hoofer by far. I'm not sure that this year's Ping bags suffer from the quality issues of past. The 4-Series seems durable and should last a long time. My old Hoofer is a real beast and has stood the test of time for sure.
Titleist doesn't even make their bags. You are just paying for the name on it.

The Ping 4-Under is SUPER light and has plenty of pocket space for a small bag. I love it!
Actually I'm paying for the color scheme, which Sun Mountain doesn't offer on the 4.5. Aren't both the Titleist and the Sun Mountain $189.99 retail? So actually, I'm just paying for a bag I like!

But even aside from that, sure I'm influenced by brand name, but who isn't? No need to imply that I am some stooge who cannot make his own choices and is easily manipulated by marketing. I don't buy store-brand cereal, buy Tide detergent and buy my gas from Chevron. I need my Techron, dammit!!!!

Can say enough about the Titleist premium stand bag. I got mine in 2007 at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame with the ND logo on it. I am still using it and have had no issues. The legs are starting to get a little worn out, but it still works great. It's a little faded out now and I am in the market for a new bag now though.

Love the colors and looks of titleist bags, but its not even a question...

If you carry, the best bags are PINGS. Plain and simple.

The independent dual strap is the most comfortable and adjustable. The bottom of the ping is flat, their stand mechanism is patented and doesnt require another piece(lever) added on the bottom.

Its not a cart problem. Its the bag stand design that adds the extra piece on the bottom of the bag...
