That is by far my favorite wedge ever... What paint did you use on the wedge? Doesn't look like the translucent Tamiya you use on the putters!

Oh sweet! Got a LOAD of new PING gear coming tomorrow... Pretty psyched.. Can we see a close-up of the paint on the 56's? The wedges look great! But that leads me to this, why haven't you painted the i20 woods?! Does Stratton just prefer the stock paint?

Really just haven't taken the time to do the woods or hybrids. Stratton does a LOT if not most all of his own paint fill now on his clubs. He has got into doing refinish work on putters as well as vintage clubs, so he spends more time on others than his own :) . PING sends most everything exactly like he likes it now and this week, even his wedges were already paint filled orange. He blacked out a few letters, but that was it.

Those look awesome! So he's only using the Iomic Opus' on the woods? Those orange and black sticky/evolutions look awesome! How is he liking the i20/Kiyoshi combo??

...He has just replaced his irons 7 thru 9 due to wear and he only plays the 47* sTour S. distance isn't a problem. All of his other wedges are Anser wedges. New wedges and hybrid should be here Monday. It will be interesting to see the length of the 3hybrid. He says the PING I20 hybrids are by far the best and longest he has ever played.

 

Is he keeping the 17° hybrid in the bag along with the 3hybrid?

AGREE.... He is playing in the State Championship this week (Day One was today) and following this tournament, we are setting up to do a brand new WITB for Stratton.

He took out his 3w for this event and added his 52* wedge. He kept the 17* hybrid and 3-pw with 3 wedges. The course they are playing is fairly short, but REALLY REALLY tight. Most every hole has a big number if you get loose.

He started out catching a big-time flyer from a fluffy lie on the first hole and his shot air mailed the green, one hop in the hazard. Got up and down for a good bogie. Followed that with a snake of a birdie on camera on the second hole. Par, Bogey, Birdie, Birdie, Par, Par, Par, = 1under front nine. On the back, he was still 1 under through 12, Horrible double on 13. Plugged his tee shot just below the lip of a green-side bunker. Birdies 13, pars 14 and on 15 a hole that he usually owns, found the trees on the left and instead of punching out and playing for par, he tried to be a hero and it backfired. Remained in the trees, punches out in 3 and finishes the hole with his second double bogey of the back nine. Pars 17 and once again in front of everyone on 18, snakes in a 15 footer for birdie. Finishes with a 71 two shots out of the lead, but more importantly, his team is 4 shots clear of second place. One more solid day and the team can collect there 3rd State Championship in the last 4 years. Here is a quick video of some of Stratton's play today.

THANK YOU! Stratton is bummed that they did not bring the team title home, but I will tell you, he played like a stud to win the individual honors today.

 

Stratton played 17 holes and did not miss a single shot. He was no further than 10' for birdie on 17 holes in a row. Did NOT have a great day with the flat stick, but it seemed like every putt hung on the lip or lipped out. He stepped up on the 18th tee and proceeded to double cross pull his drive Oscar Bravo....Never saw that coming. He proceeded to make it MORE interesting by hitting his 4th shot in a hazard 150yds from the green (a ravine) went in the ravine, chopped a wedge back to the fairway and got up and down from 150 for double to force a playoff shooting a 69. First hole of the playoff, he drained a 10' putt to force his opponent to make which swung wide left. His playoff record now in his career is 10-1 lifetime. He is as clutch as it gets when everything is on line. I am very proud of him.

Thats good to hear, he did the best he could to win it for the team but it is great that he won the individuals. Knowing that he could have more easily destroyed the competition if it wasn't for his last hole i can't imagine if he had a day where he never missed a drive either.

Yes, BUT.....I have news on good authority that Karsten Creek will have putter headcovers with dancing : golfing Pete : all over the cover in white and black. They will be the coolest OSU covers out there.
