We could get those big sumo wrestling suits... Let the titlest guys battle the taylor made guys. the scotty lovers vs. the scotty haters, forged vs. cast, stack & tilt vs. haneyites.... um what segment am i missing? would be hilarious
Brilliant we could go to one of the paintball places and have a Scotty Cameron vs the World matches, I am sure we can get lime green and turbo blue circle t paint balls. We may have to separate into different hotels to avoid any arguments over blades vs cavity backs(the one you left out)
LMFAO. Maybe those people can bring their lime green matrix shafts too....

SoCal would be fitting since most of the major oems reside there. I like the giant swap shop idea too.

Love the SoCal idea. Love the area. Lots of top notch courses and great weather. Headed out for a couple weeks in late June and early July to visit a few friends. Easy to get flights to LA, LB, San Diego, J Wayne.

Then again the weather at Bandon is always crappy . . . and I'm always looking for a reason to finally get there . . . Just sayin.

I mean come on, with all the CEOs and big shots here someone has to know Mike Kaiser or Herb Kohler if not Billy Payne.

I've got guts but I'm surely not dumb enough to ever bring my wife and my girlfriend to the same place!

You my friend are a real man.

I think Florida or Georgia really.. Maybe even Alabama.

Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail... Could stay at the course, play it, drive a few min and play another course, and get several in, for the weekend.

Or Lake Oconee.. Cuscowilla has REALLY nice condos/cabins and rental's.. Some on the water, some on the course.. Coore and Crenshaw course.. Great practice area.. Covered even, flat screens and a snack shop at the range.. Lake stuff to do at night, nice restaurant.. Less than 2 hours from Atlanta for flights, hotels, and shopping for the women and children. Strip clubs.. all that good stuff..

Less than 1 hour from Augusta too. ;)

Base it in Milwaukee and you've got:

Whistling Straights Two courses right there
Blackwolf Run Two Courses
Erin Hills Upcoming US Open site
Brown Deer Former Greater Milwaukee Open site

Head West 75 minutes and you've got
University Ridge

Head south 90 minutes and you've got Chicago area courses

Plus another 15 or so nice, public tracks in the immediate area.

Not to mention lakefront festivals any weekend pretty much from Memorial to Labor Day
The Brewers at Miller Park
A great zoo
Decent shopping
A great museum
Plenty of theatre, clubs, etc.
Good dining

All at an affordable price range.

And if there's an easier airport to get into and out of I've yet to find it.

Brother, I treat extra money like I hate having it around but nothing, and I mean nothing about playing Straits, Erin, BWR, comes at an affordable price. To play those 3 you are up over a grand already. I'd rather book Bandon and play unlimited for $400 a day.

We'd be way better off basing it out of a resort. It is almost a must. They'd be able to offer better rates for multiple bookings, first off. No travel is necessary since the courses are on premise, or close enough that they provide the transport. Staying in a city, having to arrange travel to courses, etc. is a pain in the a**. I'd rather be guaranteed near perfect weather and play Wee-Ko-Pa than risk dumping $500 to play a round at Straits, then maybe have to drive back an hour soaking wet to a hotel. Really, I'd be down for AZ the easiest. Great concentration of big courses and resorts a plenty.

I know everyone would rather stay close to them but think about what would be best for people traveling 1000+ miles. Wait, nobody wants to come to Bethlehem, PA? Why? Warm sunshine is a must, and no place other than the SW can really accomplish that strict piece of criteria.

I hate to point out the obvious (another lie, i love pointing out the obvious ;)), but if you're planning a WRX get-together, location and course layout needn't be considered. I think we'd all be happy sitting around and talking about our games instead. That said, I don't think the Rocky Mountain areas should be overlooked. High altitudes give distance bonuses that should feed into everyone's ego nicely. And the scenery is REALLY nice! :good:

lol--to be perfectly honest, I'm more concerned with my own fragile ego. I died a little bit when I played my first round at sea level. I've got so very little to hang my hat on, but after crushing a drive that actually hits the short grass, I don't want to find out that it only went 240 with roll. :D

Imo prob best to have a lead time for those of us who have a harder time getting time off approved. I would say set something up for 2012 obviously avoiding any major events superbowl march madness major tourneys etc. that gives plenty of time to get everything organized while still giving
Wrxers time to commit and make arrangements etc. Trying to organize something this size for 6 months from now would be a major task and a nightmare for whoever ran it. It is hard enough to get 20 of us local guys rounded up on short notice I couldnt imagine what it would be like for the whole board

Fwiw Scottsdale on the early/late shoulder season either mid/late may or late August very early Sept can be done at a greatly reduced greens fees without sacrificing conditions on the course. Plus it would be much easier to negotiate resort rates that time of year. It does not interfere with much in the way of sporting events that time off year either. Definitely not opposed to socal either. Heck anywhere sounds good but it's all going to come down to price point. It has to be attractive enough to appeal to the masses on the board not just the elite. Its still a tough economy out there and it may be a tough sell for some of the guys here if it stats getting too expensive.

I'm out. Last thing I need is for y'all to see me in all my cuddly teddy bear niceness. It'd totally destroy the a-hole image I've worked so long and hard to cultivate. ;)

Just my 2 cents,

Money Shot - maybe you should allow everyone that would be interested to send you a PM? That way you could get a feel for how many would actually show?
Then maybe check out some resorts to see who would offer the best rates and options for our group? Having the PM's would allow you to contact these places with an actual number. 50? 100? Who knows unless people get in touch with you. Maybe GolfWRX would allow some advertising or ? to entice them?
After coming up with a few resorts in deifferent areas, Socal, Arizona or ? maybe take a poll to see what area is most popular.

No offense to the East Coasters or Michigan , but a place like Socal or Arizona not only has great, consistant weather, great golf courses but there is alot of stuff to entertain significant others while you golf.

I'd like to see what more of the Mods have to say.....

cheers, spin
