Lets have a GolfWrx convention weekend

After meeting the great Golfwrxers this past weekend in GA it made me think wouldn't it be cool if we could have a yearly Golfwrx convention? We could meet, greet, play golf, talk about golf and just hang out. If we got enough people I'm sure we could get some great deals on rooms and golf. Anyone else think this would be fun?

Who cares if you shoot a 62 or 162 it's just about being around people who love and appreciate the game and meeting new friends!

My suggestion would be to do an east and west coast convention to help save on travel costs, sorta like the Tmag trip.

I vote Scottsdale during the winter to give all those northerns a chance to play some golf and save me the travel expenses.

We always have a great time when we do the local outings here

Since we're brain storming, we could have the first day be a "Club Test Day" and invite the manufacturers to have us try new equipment and provide feedback. If we were picking up our own travel/lodging expenses, I'll bet they'd be more likely to participate.

That evening could be a round table with the manufacturers where we'd be able to ask questions, have them solicit feedback over cocktails and then dinner.

The next day, 18 hole flighted and handicapped event. Like Matt's comment about doing something in Scottsdale in the fall (changed it from winter) before snow bird rates kick in.

Excellent idea man. We could do a major oem demo day all day Saturday. I guarantee they would do this for Golfwrx if we planned this ahead of time. This could turn into a great thing and it would bring more traffic to the site!

I agree with Arizona....lots of easy flights into Pheonix, usually predictable weather. If we got enough people to do it, we'd be able to get a great rate at a resort package.

I was thinking the same thing plenty of resort/hotel choices and plenty of courses with range space availible to do a giant demo day sort of thing. Then there is the always the entertainment and uhhhh scenery to admire.

I wonder if trading a little advertising for some reduced rates at a resort that specializes in golf would be considered by the board if they go along with the convention idea?

We could get those big sumo wrestling suits... Let the titlest guys battle the taylor made guys. the scotty lovers vs. the scotty haters, forged vs. cast,stack & tilt vs. haneyites.... um what segment am i missing? would be hilarious

Airlines and hotel will normally do deals for 10-25/flights or rooms. Any course would love to do a demo day and have a huge influx of traffic, especially if there was an outing the next day. There is a benefit in doing a Phoenix event with the manufacturers being in the OC area.

Brilliant we could go to one of the paintball places and have a Scotty Cameron vs the World matches, I am sure we can get lime green and turbo blue circle t paint balls. We may have to separate into different hotels to avoid any arguments over blades vs cavity backs(the one you left out)

I would say this has to be in the winter in hot place - I live the idea of Arizona - lots of deals to be had there right now.

Not sure how many folks you could get in year one though- maybe 100 or so
