I think east/west, 2 separate ones would be fun.

I don't think I want to putt on that poa junk, and I don't think those west coast boys' egos would take the thick sea level air over here with their drives not going as far as "normal".
If we did two trips I would have to go to both, that could get pricey for me... I say we do one a year and change the venue every year.
No one is pulling your arm to go to both!

What about Myrtle Beach.. Cheap condos and hotels, and PLENTY of golf and nightlife to enjoy after the sun sets. Cheap packages for large groups too, and cheap for people to get to.

I think Florida or Georgia really.. Maybe even Alabama.

Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail... Could stay at the course, play it, drive a few min and play another course, and get several in, for the weekend.

Or Lake Oconee.. Cuscowilla has REALLY nice condos/cabins and rental's.. Some on the water, some on the course.. Coore and Crenshaw course.. Great practice area.. Covered even, flat screens and a snack shop at the range.. Lake stuff to do at night, nice restaurant.. Less than 2 hours from Atlanta for flights, hotels, and shopping for the women and children. Strip clubs.. all that good stuff..

Less than 1 hour from Augusta too. ;)

Make in Atlanta and I am in.

I vote Myrtle Beach SC in the Fall when all the rates come down on stay and play packages. Tons of courses to choose from, low rent muni tracks all the way up to $300 a round Championship courses. Plus at that altitude we wont see any 250yd 6i

+1 for Myrtle Beach.

It's the perfect destination for any WRX'ers on the right coast, tons of courses and lodging at reasonable rates and no more than a 2 hour plane ride from just about anywhere.

For someone like me in the NYC/Philly area, Scottsdale or California is a damn hike for a three or four day golf trip - I think breaking it up into regions is gonna be the best move so more people can go.

Just saw this topic. Sounds like a great idea. I hope we can get the logistics figured out. I would definitely be down.

Going to have to give the +1 to Myrtle. Seems like the perfect spot. It is family friendly, has nightlife for those without families, great golf, accessible, and reasonable priced.

 • 1 year later...

The logistics of putting together a singular event like this, depending on the number of participants, can take upwards of 6-12 months. There will be parties upset about not having the venue in their time zone. Additionally, having it at a venue like Vegas could take away from promoting getting to know other members (stayed up all night at the Rhino and the tables and missed my tee time, etc...).

As others have suggested, having 3-4 regional meets may be the best option to get as many people involved as possible. Plus, if you make these meets at different times of the year, who is to say that someone from NJ won't go to AZ in February after having already gone to the meet in October at Myrtle?

easyyy stated that he will do this in the future perhaps around the PGA merchandise show. That's good new right?!?!
I just found this thread a year and half later :) But I was going to post this idea after I read all the responses. it makes the most since. it's the one time a year all the major OEM's are in one place. They have the demo day during the mid week for all the registered industry attendees. They cold possibly set up a GolfWrx demo day after that one is done..over the weekend while all the PGA members are still in town but at the show.

Orlando definitely fits the family/spouse friendly location. Airport is easy and inexpensive to fly into from most parts of the county, hotels are in abudnance. Time of year, late January makes Florida an attractive destination for everyone dealing with winter.

All that said, I also was going to selfishly suggest San Diego in late February...as I will be attending a work conference there and I could easily plan my trip to stay over or come early for the weekend. And as others suggested with alot of the club companies in nearby Carlsbad it would be easy for them.

Oh I know and totally understand, I didn't take any offense.

The dead threads I get a kick out of are the ones where someone ask for advice on a course or destination that they are visitng next week or next month. Then you see a post a year later that says...You should go to or play XYZ course without realizing the date had long passed. Some people do take note of that and mention they realize the time has come and gone, others post away like it's new news :)
