How often do you buy a new golf bag?

I'm playing the bag I used in High School... I think I got it 1999.

It's a Ping Hoofer... haven't had any problems with it, and I will keep playing it until it's unusable.

Still looks pretty good... and the legs have held up.

What more could you ask for in a bag?

I've said this before: ever since I've started visiting this site, I've started hoarding stuff. I now have two bags (a gamer and a storer), spare clubs (hence the extra bag), towels, extra balls, the works.

I'm still far from Golf Galaxy, but I think I qualify for Golf Asteroid.

I usually update the bag every 3-4 years unless I see something I really like, then all bets are off.

I am a frustrated buyer!!!!!!!

I am left handed, and I can't really finds anything that works.

I currently have:

1. [b]Old Sun Mountain 3.5 made for left handed players[/b]: Great bag, but it's old, wearing down, and when I infrequently ride the bag doesn't work well. The storage is not good these days either. Legs are almost done, and need replaced. Can't find a new one, and the 3.5 has features lacking that I like, like 14 dividers, and pockets.
2. [b]1990's Hogan Staff Bag,[/b] too big, too heavy, hard to transport, can;t walk with it.
3. [b]Early 2000's Hogan light leather/canvas bag[/b]. Not a staff bag, but close in size. Lots of room, in great shape, but I can't carry it on the course, I can't adjust the straps to make it comfortable.
4. [b]Sun Mountain MPB Bag[/b]. this is a marvelous bag, good for carrying, good for riding. I am sort of hot and cold on the putter well, and the 14 dividers in the bag are great! Storage is fine. BUT IT IS NOT MADE FOR LEFTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!


[size="3"][color="#FF0000"]There is just nothing out there made for a left hander that's worth a hoot these days, and I'm tempted to junk everything and try to buy a Jones Bag this year or a MacKensie leather bag so I can find something comfortable. But even then these bags don;t have storage, or a stand, and when you're at the range, or on wet grass what good does a leather bag or a vinyl bag do you?

The original Ping bags (and some today) supposedly can be used by RH or LH players, but they have what padding on the bag for righties, and no pocket access unless you put the bag down. [/color][/size]

I buy one when the corrent bag is shot. I have had my Adams staff bag for over 2 years. The mpb before it, I had for four years. I see the adams staff bag last a lot longer then four years, well thats unless the wife buys me another staff bag.

I have played the same stand bag since high school, so it is ~10 years old now.

It is a Nike something or other and it has held up nicely. The only part that is broken is one of the little rubber bits on the end of the feet.

The one thing I will say is modern bag strap designs and weight has vastly improved in the last decade, so the thought has crossed my mind.

my cart bag is from 2008 (ping explore) and i don't see it getting replaced any time soon. i bought a new stand bag this year (ping 4 under) to replace my ogio that was falling apart.

Typically when the old bag is worn out. Bought this one yesterday though because it has full length dividers and i got tired of fighting with tangled clubs in my current bag. I like a bag with all the features I could possibly want, with my speed cart I don't worry about weight.

Whenever it gets too many holes in it that I get tired of jamming my clubs in... I bought a new bag last year because the bag before that was a hand-me-down. I can probably keep this one for 5 years or so.

This showed up last night and so far I am really happy with it. I'll give a more in depth rundown after I play a couple rounds with it this weekend.

I'd say every few years. I either get sick of them, or a zipper breaks (I normally get sick of them before they break). I can see my current 2012 Titleist Lightweight bag sticking with me for a while. I love this bag for both cart and carry use.

I like to buy a new bag basically when it is needed. I just bought a Sun Mountain Four5 bag, to replace a Nike, legs never closd right, and one bent, which replaced an older Callaway stand bag.

A new bag doesn't help me shoot lower (directly) but if its uncomfortable to carry or broken, it will get replaced.

I don't get transferring clubs between several bags. Makes me think of what my wife does with her purses.

Usually replace mine when the TSA breaks it. I have owned 4 bags in the last 10 years, they have broken 2 of them. Besides that ones the zippers start messing up/falling off then it is time to find a new one.

Anytime I see one I have to have. That is usually based on a steal of a price. Right now I have 9 bags. I bought 2 this yr., won one last yr., 3 two yrs. ago, and the rest about one a yr. I really need to sell some. The two I bought this yr. I havn't even gamed.
