Iomic putter grips

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing good things about Iomic putter grips for a while now so I went to my local golf shop in search of one. In the store they felt really nice, soft and just a little tacky. I got a medium one installed (with an extra wrap) and when I brought it home, it feels completely different. It's a bit firmer and a bit slick (sweaty hands); very different than in the store.

Anybody else come across this??? Could it be the extra wrap???

It's because it's clean. I have a large with three wraps of tape so the tape is not the issue. I have a white one to so every once in a while I clean it and I have noticed for about 1 or 2 rounds after I clean it is slick, but it goes away. Just give it a few rounds and see how it feels then.

Oh man...it comes in large!?!?! That would have been better but oh well.
Thanks for all your replies, very useful.

Try the Iomic Absolute putter grip, it's has a slight texturing and feels amazing...Just put a red one on my new(used)Del Mar, and they are a sweet match together....

iomics are OK, but i recently got a new sunset beach putter, and they put a Premio grip on it. I had never heard of them before, but it's a great grip. I like it better than the Iomic. Is has a little more rounded paddle shape, but it's nice and tacky but firm.

and at $8/per, they're roughly 1/2 the cost of iomic. JAT

To the OP. Have you tried just giving it a bit of a clean with a soft brush (I use an old nail brush) and some soapy water (washing up liquid). After you've towel dried it, it may feel better.

I have a white standard size on my putter and love it. It's very hard to describe how the grip feels though. It's definitely not spongy (which would make it firm), but its feels soft. It's definitely not slippy, but it feels smooth.

That looks nice but wasn't an option at my local golf shop, too bad!

Just enough texture and still firm.

Your right, I just found it a little slick when I was cleaning it. It is definately smooth and I think I'm really going to like it.

how would you guys compare it to the Ping man blackout grip? That's my favorite, but these Iomics look sweet.

Fell they are both tacky, to me a mid Iomic is a little large than a standard ping man grip.

I LOVE my white Iomic grip! ok.gif

I have to agree i have 3 whites on 3 different putters in rotation they are amazing grips. :drinks:

Been using them for years, and not a hint of "slick" ever. Actually came out of a Winn and then a GripMaster because I couldn't deal with how slick they got in the 95 degree NE humidity. I now play the Absolute, which is a little softer and has texture...you can see that in the pic a few posts above. It only comes in midsize, but the midsize Absolute is actually a little bigger than the midsize smooth iomic putter grip. Absolute isn't as sharp on the corners either. Only downside is that it doesn't have as much "feel" as the smooth does.

If yours is tacky, take some windex or ammonia-free glass cleaner and wipe it down good with a microfiber towel. It'll stick to your hand. Course its not designed to be especially tacky, but it shouldn't get slick either.

I just switched to this exact putter grip from the standard one. The texture is soft, but gives the "just right" feel to me at least.

Another poster indicated that the Absolute is bigger than the standard (smooth) Midsize on the bottom hand. Is it also larger on the upper hand (butt end) as well?

I like Pingman grip too but I think Iomic has better feel to it. I have currently standard regular size with two tapes but many players prefer mid size so you might wanna try both before buying

I have the midsize black model on my Anser Milled - best putter grip I've ever used. Fantastic feel and slight tackiness, and it really adds to the feel on quicker greens.
