How many times have you shot your lowest score ever?

Recommended Posts

Lowest score isn't the true measure of best round, but my lowest score, 63 (-4, par 67), I shot about 5 or 6 times at my home course, as roughly a 2-3 handicapper. Those rounds were approximately 6 strokes better than my index at the time.

Best round ever was an adjusted 69 on a par 71 as a 5 course handicap, about 7 better than my index at the time.

This is a good point because as I am very happy to have shot those scores I don’t consider either one as my best round ever.

I was fortunate enough to play the Dunes course in Myrtle Beach the Monday after a season ending Senior PGA Tour Championship the year Jim Colbert won (1995 maybe) at I think 5 or 6 under for the tournament. I shot an 80 and I don’t feel like I missed a shot the whole day. No idea what the differential was in relation to my handicap but I don’t think I’ve ever played better golf in relation to course difficulty.

A few years later at the same course I shot an 82 which doesn’t sound particularly good, however there is a little story behind it. It was a tournament day between our group of friends. Everyone puts up $100 and everyone plays completely by the rules…no gimmes,no roll it over in fairway , go back to the tee for OB, etc. which not everyone in our group always does except for this once a year thing we do. On my 3rd hole a par 5 I made a spectacular 17 which included a long one-putt. 12 over on one hole but 2 under for the rest of the day got me second place money. I’m exceptionally proud of how I really ground out that number after just an absolute Tin Cup like disaster.

While neither of these are my “lowest” score and I’ve shot lower scores hundreds of times, they are the two rounds of golf I consider my best rounds.

4 or 5 times.
My PB is 80 on a Par 72, 6670 y, 73.0/137 rated course.

None of those rounds „felt“ special, I just didn’t screw up any holes badly and of course putted well. Even had a couple doubles in there.
I‘m hopeful to break 80 soon.

-5 twice at my home course. Both rounds were about a year apart when I was playing more than normal trying to play my best golf. I also had equipment changes already in the mail so they were the last rounds with certain clubs. Differential wise they were -3.4. I've got three -3 rounds from the tips that are also -3.4 differential.

Shot 67 twice, but one was on a par 71 and the other on par 73. Both courses are short (6k yards) but since I’m short by WRX standards it’s a wash.

The first time I shot my age was the 67 I mentioned. I’ve done it several times since, but at soon to be 73 I it doesn’t happen much anymore. When I joined a men’s league one of the more senior members asked me how old I was and when I told him 65 he said I was just a baby. He said things start falling apart when you turn 70, and I’ve learned he wasn’t lying.

I don't go low that often.  Shot even par a number of times.  Couple of shots under par a couple of times.  Best round by far in the last few years was even par 72 at a hard course in Palm Springs.  I'm not a great chipper and just a decent putter who can get yippy at times, so my low rounds don't happen as often as I would like to think they should.

My best  18 is 67, -5.  Several -4 68.  Best in  competition -3 67 on par 70, that was on a pretty easy  course.

First  time I  ever broke 70 was a 67, -5,  when I  was 16.  I parred the first 8 holes, played the next 8 holes seven under with 5 birdies and an eagle.   Then bogeyed the last  two holes....

Have shot 30 on a 9 a few times, other 9 was never as good, one was a 40-30.... -2, 70 a few years ago...

12 under got to you a bit it sounds like.  Not one of my best end result scores a few years back I found myself -7 through 13. Gagged my way to 68(-4).  Sounds simplistic but usually the more birdies I make the more I continue to make. That was one of the few I staggered in.

Might start a new phrase here….GOS (getting old sucks)

It was too long ago to remember.  I haven't come close to my lowest score in 15 years.  I can still have a decent round or two, but I don't go low like I used to.

There was a glimmer of hope last week when I put a couple of solid rounds together.  Then a return to my reality of mental errors and loose shots.  The competitive career has at best three or four years left in the tank.  The hard work I put in doesn't have the same return it used to.  I'm just to darn stubborn to give it up I suppose.

My lowest is 68, done once when I was a 2 index.  Reached that number a few other times only on shorter courses, so don't see them the same.  Carded "1" under multiple times as well as even par 72 a few times from black tees on a 6700 yd 72/133 course, all when I was 2-3 index.

Now in my early 70s, 4+, chasing my age.

I've shot 65 a number of times, seems to be a mental wall.

Probably my best round was a 67 where I went bogey free. I've only done that once.
