I have g-10 2 iron i-10 3-pw. Just got these the other day and they are amazing. I have the awt x flex shaft in them. Was kind of worried about the x cause my driver ss is only 112 but Ping and my fitter said that the awt are lighter and play weaker flex. So i went with the x and I love them.

z-z65 w/cushin in s59 irons. "will be playing" is more accurate. waiting for them to arrive. but i demoed them excessively and i am sure i will love them. incredible control of direction, height and distance with very soft feel.

The cushion is not avalaible in S300's. The cushion is available in the DGS (S400) and DGX (X100). And yes, they are heavy.

I have lost one half to a full club from my previous irons (Bridgestone J33CBs with DG SL S300 shafts). I'm not sure if I should just learn to live with this minimal distance loss, or replace the AWT with the DG SL (I still have my old clubs so I could just use those).

 

I spoke to someone from Ping here in Australia and they said it's probably because I hit the AWT too high due to the softer tip. The DG SL are apparently a lower launching shaft with a stiffer tip, but I never felt like I hit low balls with the J33s - they were penetrating but with a nice mid-high flight.

 

Should I just bite the bullet and get someone to install the DG SLs? I'm just worried about the swingweight, as the constant weight of the DG differs to the ascending weight of the AWT, and this will throw my swingweights out.

I played the I10's w/AWT-Stiff since late January coming from I3-OSize w/JZ X-Stiff. I was in a similar situation (high flight, loss of yardage through the set).

 

The ball flight was too high and at times had too much spin.

 

I was able to exchange them for I10's with the DG x-100 w/Cushin. The combination of the X-stiff shaft and high kickpoint has given me a much better ball flight (penetrating, drop and stop). I'm still trying to dial in the distances, but they appear to be within 5 yards of the i3's (as opposed to 10-15 yards the AWT's) and this is good enough for me and my abilities. (I'm a 7.1).

I have played the S59s with X100s and S58s with S400s. I liked the S59s with the X100s, they felt really good, but the S58s with the S400s feel so good. I also find it easier to work the ball a little.

Bought these on a whim and really hit them well even when I'm not swinging the best. High ball flight for me - I hit the 4 iron as high as I hit my 6 iron in my Mizuno MP29's and MP33's. Both Mizuno's were DGX100 shafts, so I may be looking at reshafting or buying another set with either X100 or 6.0's.
