Going out to Granville Golfland for a driver fitting tomorrow. Never been on a track man before, pretty excited to see the numbers and resulting club/shaft combo.

 

How was your fitting and what did you end up with? Jeff is awesome.

Jeff was awesome as was his younger helper(name escapes me). Ended up in an Epic 10.5 with hzrdus T800. Epic was the leader from the get go, I've always been a Taylormade guy so Jeff worked hard to get me in an M2 but it just wasn't as consistent as the Epic. Had to swing extra hard to get near the performance of the Epic. Happy with my purchase and experience with the guys

First time up at Red Hawk Run yesterday. What a steal -- $40 to play 36 with cart. The course was so empty that we never once waited.

 

I liked that course too, pretty fun.

Has anyone played Eagle Sticks this year? Have they fixed their pace of play issues? Last time I played there was in '15, and they had multiple groups stacked up on every hole.

 

We played it in 2015 as well, teed off around 3pm, no crowded at all and only took 3.5 hrs. If I remember correctly 18 w cart was like $20 through Groupgolfer.com

 

Eaglesticks is a fun course.

Has anyone played Eagle Sticks this year? Have they fixed their pace of play issues? Last time I played there was in '15, and they had multiple groups stacked up on every hole.

 

I played on a weekend where we also played Virtues (Longaberger) last summer in July. Don't remember any pace of play issues that weekend at Eagle Sticks. Enjoyed the course more than I thought I would.

Glad to hear that my experience was an exception. The rangers must have been sick the day we played. I'll have to give it another try.

Once back at our motel, I snuck out and played another 9 at Cedaredge GC. Great views.

I played Harbor Golf Links on Saturday and enjoyed the round. I was able to play as a single at 8:30 on a weekend morning so that started things off on the right foot. The drive from Cincinnati was reasonable. It took about 50 minutes from the Blue Ash area. The clubhouse is nothing more than a double wide trailer but it gets the job done. There's a small snack bar that has everything you need to survive the round. The area was pounded with rain and storms Friday so it was wet and there was numerous branches down.

 

I thought the front was FAR better than the back. The front is a very traditional layout imo. It has a linksy/parkland feel to it. It actually reminded be a lot of Shawnee (Tillinghast's first design) in the Pocono Mountains of PA. The only hole I was a big far of was #2 because of the buzzing power lines. I could actually feel the hair on my arms standing up from the amount of static in the air. Hole #6 is a great par 3 along the water. The back seemed very forced and kind of clownish. It's basically target golf combined with some elements of the front 9. Hole #11 could be so much better, #14 is just dumb and #15 isn't much better. The short #17 could also be better imo. #10, #12, #13, #16 and #18 were more in line with the front 9.

Very nice. The Epic and I didn't get along well. I went in with an open mind and walked out with a club I never thought I would (917D2). Decisions are easier when the data is in front of you, can't argue facts. Congrats on the new weapon.

That's the driver I currently have in the bag. The 917 won't blow trackman numbers out but it's just dead consistent for me. Means more to me to be consistent then a few years farther. Hopefully I can get the cobra Ltd figured out and have a good battle for the driver spot lol

The D2 was pretty straight for me but 10 yards or more shorter than the Epic. Epic had both distance and accuracy for me.

For those who use Miles of Golf. Saw a couple new things yesterday when there.

 

1. Wedge practice area. Right outside the pro shop there are markers with little ramps at 25yds, 40, 55, 70, and 85. Guess if you hit the ramp the ball will stop on them or spin back??? It was really wet so this didnt work too well for me. Nice little area to practice partial wedges.

 

2. They have a new dedicated club builder guy. Inside the pro shop near the counter. His name escapes me.

It's the Elks big tournament of the year, members only.
