My Brother in law who works for the tour @ Doral says Trump does not get along with Marriott, very interesting to see what happens. Trump finally gets a PGA Tour event.

True, but the man brings a boat load of cash and a lot of coverage and a lot of friends with deep pockets. Can't be any worse than having a lumber distributor as a sponsor.

Heck, he should sponsor a LPGA event. They could use the support.

I love when he buys golf courses and then bankrupts them forcing the membership to have to rejoin at a higher initiation fee. Thats just free easy money. Genius!

He gets all buy the Jim Mclean course and teaching facility. PLus a few courses of his choice he doesn't want. I don't think it's that cheap since the place needs a MAJOR facelift. In Bankruptcy court you do not need to over bid.

He gets the McLean Silver course, he doesnt get the Greg Norman Great White Course. Paulson & Co. decided to hold that course as it is adjacent to a industrial / office park and could easily be redeveloped as it is separate from the resort. All the other courses are included. Would be shame if they do tear up the White course as it is a great lay out.

Don't think this is a great idea... Doral isn't in a very affluent area, no locals ever play there, except those that et the PCM card and can play most courses except Blue for 35$. Membership there is a rip off and there ate private clubs in the wealthier parts of town that are very nice ( Riviera, La Gorce) and Doral is not West Palm Beach in terms of $$$.

I think Trump's main purpose is essentially buying a spot on the PGA - WGC tour as he has always wanted one. Smart of Jim to stay seperate so he won't be directly influenced by Trumps price hikes.

I'm in the minority here at WRX. I cheer for Trump. I'd like to see what he can do to a resort that used to be amongst the best in Florida, that has been run into the ground by a big corporation. His name, while disliked by many here, hold a lot of value in terms of marketing property and marking golf courses. S. Florida has tons of public golf. Trump would have to get quite a steal in order to buy up this beaten down property. And how much he could jack up the prices there - that's TBD. Without totally revamping the resort, I don't see it. And if he does, he's not catering to the majority of WRX posters, he's catering more towards the same clientele he caters to at other properties.

I like Trump myself, however have ya seen the area of Doral? Not much of a Trump type of cliental. From what I am hearing from my PGA Tour connection is Marriott and Trump do not have a good relationship with each other. He wants to have a PGA Tour event which he will get here. The players love Doral and won't take it out of the rotation since it is a TPC course. But the good things is Ivanka has lead on this project so maybe that will make it easier.
