Rolled it last night outdoors for about half an hour I think it was installers error. That would be me. I think I installed it a little too closed as I was pulling most of my putts with it

Had a chance to compare the epic and M to last night at the driving range... my good pal Paco said it best when he said when he put an M2 on the ground it just feels like MASH time

 

I think the epic fairway is going to find its way to BST

Nice bag. How did the GP compare to the MJ in the fairway, and is there any particular reason you went with the 70 gram vs the 80 in the GP?

I really think I would've preferred something in the 80 gram range, but TM's offerings are limited

 

I tipped this one an extra 1/2" to try keep it a bit more stable -

 

Shafts aside, I'm not sure I like the look at address on the new M2 -- like everything , I'm sure I'll get used to it

 

Gonna get them outside today for testing.

Guys- it was really really fun.

 

It was about a 2 hour drive to my fitting. When I arrived, Adam was just finishing up with the previous appointment. He was a dentist from a nearby club.. and got a full on bag fitting- and went with the Xtreme black finish.

 

I heard him ask how much it was to get them rush delivered... the answer $1,000. No joke. $1,000 gets a call to PXG to have a guy stop in the middle of his build, and get yours done. Crazy... anyway...

 

I was greeted by Ty (formerly on the Nike Tour Van). Both he and Adam are passionate about the brand. Ty is a player.. 1 hcp., while Adam is a 8, similar to me. Adam also had his own set along, so I could see all the scoring irons in the standard 0311. I'm glad he did, I'll get to more of that later.

 

After warming up with my current clubs. I was put in front of a trackman with a large cardboard box of brand new Pro V1x balls dumped next to me fire into the range.

 

I hit my 7 iron. He saved the best 5 passes - and the best

He then put together the PXG 7 to my specs (same shaft too)

Looked great at address and it performed - I was carrying an average 6 yards more, but the ball speed and better spin numbers were obviously better too. Not only was I getting better numbers, but I could tell the dispersion was better on mishits. And I Loved my current TMBs.

 

Ty then put me into what he thought would give me even better numbers Modus 120 X. It was okay, but not as consistent. We moved onto the PXLZ --- horrible. Next was good old PX - this gave me the best numbers when stuck right, but I was also pretty inconsistent with it. Next was the 110i Steel Fibre - these were actually damn good. I would say they were my overall #2.

 

Funny thing was.. I was fit into exactly what I was hoping I wasn't --- my exact same specs and shaft as my current set. Tour Issue AMT X100's. They didn't have a soft stepped shaft to try, and I was getting good numbers with them straight in, but I did end up going soft stepped (1/3 a flex) -- just something about trying to keep that swing from range to course)

 

I was their last appointment of the day, so I helped pack up the truck, we sat down for a beer and we put in the order. They had 3 fittings total that day - 3 sales too It was a great day--

And no I did NOT opt for the $1K rush delivery ;)

 

What I thought I'd get:

4 XF

5,6,7 standard

8,9,P,G tours

But the standards looked absolutely great in the scoring irons.. really glad I could see all of those. I also figured (hoped) there would be a different shaft out there for me-- but I do love me some Dynamic Gold:)

 

Final setup:

0311XF 4 iron steel fiber 110i stiff

0311 5-gap TT TI DG AMT X100 SS 1X

+1/2" , 1* up (from Titleist std. "tour" standard)

Iomic sticky 2.3 logo down +2 wraps

 

The whole thing took about 2 hours - I was amazed at the time they are will to spend to get things dialed in .

Funny Leif- Mr. I have 4 sets of 2016 / 17 irons

But I'm giving one set to my son - so only 3

 

The TMB set will be sold soon to help offset that price

Sounds like a great time. What's the eta? I've only hit them once and it was indoors last year and they killed my gamers at that time. Was the fitting free with a purchase? Did you try the woods out?

Super bummed that I couldn't make it. I would love to put a "modern" iron side by side with my 57's to see if it would be worth a change. I love my baby blades but they've been in my bag for so long that a little variety could be fun, then again, maybe not. LOL

You, of all people, HAVE to go!

 

I think the clean look is more than good enough for you to appreciate them- and the performance will straight up kill your gamers.

 

The numbers don't lie- plus it is awesome seeing real ball flight outdoors

 

I was blessed twofold -

The weather and wind was perfect and my swing was actually on yesterday. Adam and Ty were outstanding. And even though it was a Saturday, and I was their final appointment, they would have spent as much time as I wanted to.
