How are the Tour 120 working? I have had a set for the last half of the year and really liked them. Good dispersion and a more penetrating ball flight from a lighter shaft.

They are in a box in my basement right now. The P790s just arrived today, so I will be building those up soon.

After my first round with the P790s. I will say they are SOLID! Very forgiving iron with good feel- distance wise, they are on par with the PXGs

Surprised me how much “pop” they have on punches, chips- but the offset is almost ideal for me

 

I hit the 4 iron off the tee a bunch today - awesome!

Softer/feel - PXG - honestly, not close

Looks - eye of beholder

Forgiveness- 790 - I am surprised

Distance - equal

Launch - 790 higher (not as easy to to play in the wind - tough to flight down IMO)but what a fun club to hit!

I played the PXG for the full season - only had 4 rounds with these so far

 

Fulll disclosure, I went with lighte shafts in the 790s. This could have a lot to do with the comparison (not really apples/apples)

As a low ball hitter, was looking at a higher launching shaft with these, but with your feedback on launch, would you suggest sticking with "gamer" shafts?

 

I suppose if I find too high of a lunch, could always swap in the Modus 125 from my other set of 900F, those thing really keep flight down, almost too low in the 900F head, which is why my new set has PX LZ.

Do you have a place you can hit the demo 7 iron outside?

 

Try a couple shaft options - the DG 105 is an okay shaft too

 

I still haven't put the DG 120 X100 in yet.

 

I have the following in there right now, and they are working out just fine (I'll tinker more this winter):

 

4 iron Recoil 780 smart wrap (stiff hard-stepped)

5,6,7 irons DG 105 S300

8,9,P,G irons DG AMT S300

54/58 SM6 wedges S400

 

The softer than fitted for flex seems to work better "on course" for me

 

I'm a TT DG fan though - I really cant find a profile I like better

As did I. It's not a good course to play if you have a 3 way miss going (pulls,fades, and a few tops...lol). I shot in the 90's for the first time in 5 years.

 

Golf aside, we had a great time, Lance is a class guy, would be a pleasure to play with anytime.

We took the day off and played 36 yesterday, supposed to be flurries here also, bummer man.

 

I saw you were in on the testing for the Tensei Blue a while back. You had good initial reviews, what made you move on? Did you ever try the Pro, or the Orange?

 

We did a demo on course with the G400 with stock Alta, solid driver, but not a purchase for me.

 

I have gotten a good feel for the new 4-5 flihi MP18, almost got my first ace yesterday with the 5, about 18 inches.
