What brand makes the best carry/stand bags?

Recommended Posts

I've had a '13 Titleist lightweight/Three5 for a few years but was never a big fan of the pocket layout, mainly water bottle access. Dropped it for a Wilson Nexus after reading great reviews on the Wilson. 27 holes later and I now have a '15 Three5 on the way. The leg mech on the Wilson fell apart multiple times and the bottom of the bag was too big to fit into a cart. I can now look forward to having another quality SM bag for a several years to come.

Over the years Ping have made the best carry bags, the stands are simple and the bags are really hard wearing, I've had about 6 over the last 25 years and can't fault them. I have fond memories of the old L8 bag in black nylon then the L8+ with a few more pockets and a stand, the hoofer which is still the best bag I've ever owned along with the heavy twill Moon bag, In about 2009 came the original 4 under and most recently the last 4 series bag, the only thing that has ever worn out is the straps from constant use. Simply great golf bags.

I would love a PING stand bag with Sun Mountains carry straps, mostly because the PING straps doesn't fit me very well.

I absolutely love my Sun Mountain H2NO stand bag because of the straps, what I don't love is the bag's durability.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but does anyone have a good recommendation for a carry bag which can also be put onto a push cart if I am feeling a little lazy? Currently looking at a hoofer 14 or a titleist 14 way. Is either more rigid which would make this a more effective usage?
i dont think there is a good carry bag that will perfect ona push cart. You can look at something like the sunmountain csr( i think it is the name). Its basically a small cart bag with a single strap but also have the legs of a stand bag.

You could look at the Nike Air Hybrid bag. My buddy has one that works well with his trolley.

"Needed" a new carry bag, was choosing between Hoofer, Four 5, Titleist Lightweight. Ended up choosing the Nike Air Hybrid II. Dividers are great, weight and storage are well distributed. Two rounds with it so far, no complaints, exactly what I wanted. This bag needs more exposure, I think it's gotten lost in the shuffle and Nike really put out a good product here imo.

My Callaway fusion 14 goes great on my push cart! If it didn't work so well with my cart I would get rid of it!!

Edit: Hyperlite 5 on its way. Found a great deal on the bay and want to try the new top organizer!

I have an Ogio. Ogio stand bags are solid and IMO look better than most. When I was looking for a stand bag last year I only looked at either Ogio and Sun Mountain. I'm not enough of a Ping guy to sport one of their bags, but agree their stand bags are tough and will last you years of hard use. The big OEM stand bags feel very cheap and doesn't look like they would hold up for long.

I hope your Ogio lasts longer than mine. It fell apart after three months...stitching came apart and internal structure collapsed. Shop swapped it for a Nike Extreme Sport that is still going strong four years later. Ogio had some great design ideas, just not well-executed in my case.

Have to mention Vessel Bags here. You can get them customized any way you want them. Colors, zippers, logo, even the kind of strap you want. And they are a faux leather material, not canvass. The stand bag has nice 6-way dividers and huge pockets.

They are not cheap and take a while for a custom order, but it might be the last bag you'll ever buy (apologies to Club Glove).

Ping hoofer. Only bag I've ever used for I think about 30 years. I get about 3 years. I walk about 60 rounds per year. Plus ping just replaced my last one with free replacement. Love ping. Only use their driver and 5 wood for now but will always use a hoofer.

Best bag I have used over the last 5 years is the Ping 4Series bags - I am still using the bag from last year (over 100 rounds) and it looks almost new - just paint rub off the legs from when it is on a cart.

Perfect set up, comfortable, sturdy.

I did get a Callaway HL5 for half price, because of the divider system, but it is staying put until the Ping wears out.

Ping hoofer hands down, in my opinion. Have owned Titleist and Ogio in the past. Ping just engineers bags like a golfer needs them, from strap angle, to pocket positioning. Only complaint (and it's a reach) is I have oversized grips and they can get a little crowded, but that is with any carry bag and oversize grips. Good luck!
