What brand makes the best carry/stand bags?

Recommended Posts

A big "Plus 2" with Itchyfinger. If you haven't checked out the Qoda bags you are leaving some major satisfaction on the table. Light weight...tangle free clubs...all the bells and whistles at an incedible low price. Just sayin'....

Would a fat putter grip work with this bag? About to pull the trigger and this is the last question I have, hoping I won't have issues with a Superstroke 3.0

^The fat putter grip (Superstroke 3.0) might be a little tight imo. One of the gripes about the 4.5 is the lack of a dedicated putter well. Im currently using the middle slot of the bottom row for my putter. Another gripe is the size of the pockets, very cavernous. Not a big deal really just more of an organized freak so smaller bags are used to separate other items.

Walked 9 holes on my local course and I love it. For a quick test, I wanted to see how well the 'Cart Friendly Bottom' worked so I quickly placed it on a golf cart. It's a great feature to have and makes the best out of a dedicated stand bag.

Yeah the other choice I'm looking at is the Ogio ozone xx, I have always wanted a dedicated putter well and the Woode system looks excellent, but after reading reviews I have some durability concerns with the Ogio brand. Although the reviews I have been reading are for older models, not the 2013. And the place from which I will buy puts another year warranty on top of the standard 1yr manufacturer warranty... decisions...

Yeah it comes down to how picky do you want to be about your bag. If you have access to a 4.5, I say take your putter with you to see how well it can accommodate the bigger size grip. If you're happy then pull the trigger.

Now that the summer heat has kicked in I am really loving my new Jones "Rider" Bag when actually playing a round. (I still use my matching Jones Original Carry Bag for the Range).

The new Jones "Rider" one was built for those who prefer to ride in an electric golfcart but is stil surprisingly lightweight at just .5 lbs. Performs great on the cart and the course, but light enough to carry when the weather is cooler. It looks a small Staff Bag.

See the pics I posted earlier in the thread. (Posts #179 and #180 above).

I've been using Sun Mountain Swift-X bags for the last 5 or 6 years. I just picked up the 2013 - it's bigger, but just as light. It is everything that I need in a golf bag.

About me - I walk and carry at every opportunity, usually with 10 clubs. But I can put the whole set, or at least the 13 that I have, in my Swift-X when I take a cart with some of the guys that I play.

The absolutely biggest bag that I would ever use would be a 3-5, and I actually have one. But I use the Swift-X about every day. Great bag.

Hey, I'm in the market for a new carry bag. I walk quite a bit and am not satisfied with my Taylormade carry bag that is around a year old now. The bag I have now is too heavy (I don't carry much besides my clubs), the legs don't go down properly all of the time, and there are metal "buttons" or snaps on the back (The kind that you would attach the rain hood to) that run against my back. I have heard good reviews on WRX about Ping and some about Titleist. I haven't seen many about Sun Mountain or Ogio though. Please post what stand bag you like the most. Also if I forgot a brand please feel free to say so. Thanks!

Ping Hoofers are by far the best stand bag I have used. IMO, the best aspect of the Hoofer is that so many walkers use their bags, that no one bats an eye if you are using non-Ping clubs; this is because everyone knows Hoofers are the best bags, so the non-matching aspect isnt as big as an issue. Hope that makes sense.

^^^I agree with the above. I see a higher percentage of walkers using Hoofers than anything. I'm on my second Hoofer (had a 2 now a Vantage) and can say they are absolutely bulletproof. My brother is using my 2 and it is still in perfect shape, zippers all functional, no tears, stand mechanism works properly, etc and it is 15+ years old.

That being said I did just order the new StaDry Premier as I'm intrigued by it.

Even though I have a Titleist stand bag I voted for Sun Mountain since they make most of Titleist's for them. I just pulled the trigger on an out of circulation Titleist Premium Stand Bag from 2012. Its huge, light and sick looking especially in navy. I bought two of them because I like them so much. Plus I love having a 7 way divider. Just sets up better for my bag.

I am curious to look at the new Nexus bag from Wilson Staff. It is very light and looks like the bottom sits totally flat. Just has a fresh look but cannot find one to check it out.

I know they may not be popular but mizuno bags are no joke. They are light and the organizational divider top is top class. Also the new series is sick!!! I just got it in the new X series for this year look really cool (be wary aimed at younger folks) and have some aggressive styling. Mizuno bags are the best

Jones Bags. Quality construction. Single carry strap, which I prefer. Three full length dividers. Fur around top and down into bag 4". Plenty of pockets. Comes in heavy at 5.4#. Worth it though. Normally sell for $200, have been on sale for 40% off. Delivered $132.92. Otherwise probably would of gone Ping or Wilson route.

SM, Ping and Ogio all make good stand bags. I have recently switched from using Ogio bags to a new SM 4.5 and like it alot. The quality of materials seems better than what is offered from Ogio recently (they were better before) and with the 14 way top my clubs don't 'grab' anymore too. And the 4.5 is lighter than the comparable Ogio offering.

Another blog just named the Wilson Nexus bag best overall in a review of 2014 bags.
Yeah I saw that one too, but has anyone seen the real thing. As one person put it, I'm not spending that much money on a bag I haven't seen in person.

I bought a Ogio Grom in Oct., 2012. One of the carry straps that attach to the bag broke about 3 months ago. Now the grab handle that attaches to the bag separated. Both are straps that are sewn into the bag. I like the Woode system, but I am reluctant about buying another Ogio bag. I think they have many good features, but the durability of the bags might be in question.
