Really depends on you. I have found nothing that works better for me than Cleveland wedges (but not the Dynamic Sole Grind, ugh.) I have a friend who swears by Vokeys but I can never get them to work well for me. Then there are limited edition, special hand crafted wedges - like the Miuras. Not sure they work any better, but they are works of art. Nothing wrong with that - I do it with putters.

Anytime anyone asks what is the "best" about golf equipment they will never get a single answer because there are so many variables - and so many different people.

I am ordering a set of scratch 8620 wedges d/s grind with kbs tour shafts comparing how much this wedge would cost from wedge works and how much it will cost from scratch. there is no comparison taking everything into consideration I believe that scratch makes a better wedge.
i hit the 8620 from scratch the other day at the range,
compact head at address, with a slightly curving leading edge (WHICH I HATE) almost like cleveland wedges (cg 16,15,14)

in my opinion, wedges are so subjective that it has to fit the eye of the player at address, so there is no "best" wedge

/thread

who has the best grind would be a different story...

danttherock, while I believe the miura's are very nice I wouldn't exactly consider them "on the market" They are pretty hard to get and chip is the only guy I have heard of who is a dealer.
my golftown had a full set of miura black wedges and they have 2 set of CB-501s and CB-301s both with aerotech steelfibers, so up here in the great white north, i believe they are "on the mareket"

Not so man, seems there are over 70 dealers/fitters in the US for Miura. Their standards are strict, but they are certainly available. They just won't let some goober in Golf Galaxy sell their wedges. They want people to be happy so you can only buy them from a certified Miura dealer/fitter. Chip Usher is my guy and he had my wedges made and on my door steps in 2 days. Joe Kwok, forum member, is in California and has a great reputation. There are a few other guys on here that are licensed Miura dealer/fitters as well, but I can't recall their names. I have hit Titleist, Callaway, Cleveland, etc.. wedges over the years. I finally broke down and gave Miura a try last year. Can't tell you how much better I am from 100 and in now. The feel and feedback is sensational. I am now getting a demo 7 iron from Chip so I can decide on what irons to buy. Can't keep playing my Callaways after what I have seen with these Miura wedges. I am going to get a set of Miura irons. Just can't afford not to.

i've played:

Mizuno MP series, 52/56
Callaway forged, 52/56
Vokey spin milled, 60
Vokey SM C-C, 50, 54, 58, 62

for chipping/pitching, i liked the Mizuno MP's the best. for bunkers shots, i liked the Vokey SM 60. for full shots, i like my current ones (still feeling them out) the C-C's.

the Callaway's were decent with everything, but not great at anything imo. loved the rust colour though, and they went further than the rest...but distance shouldn't be a priority with wedges.

probably won't be changing from my C-C's any time soon...but i've heard nothing but good things about the Mizzy's.

Titleist 910D2 7.75* - TBD
Titleist 910Fd 14.25* - Rombax P95
Titleist CB 710 2i - DG S400
Mizuno MP-14 3-PW - DG S400
Vokey C-C 53/13 & 59/05 - DG S400
Fastback No. 1

Wedges are very subjective. I had some Mizzy MP R's (and I played an almost all Mizzy bag at the time, so I gave them a good shot) and I just found them too rounded and they dug too much. I'm on the Vokey SM Nickel's now. While I miss the carbon forged feel of the Mizzy's, the performance of the Vokey's is worth the change. Vokey has to have the best grind and bounce offerings in the market. There's a reason so many pro's play them.

I felt the same way till about a year ago when I got a set of Miura wedges (52, 56, and 60).

These wedges are a "work of art" but they perform better than anything I have hit.

Butter man. Butter.

unfortunately the wedges had steelfibers in them (i hate graphite) - and for $250 for one wedge, i dont want to be doing any shaft changing.

in addition, forged wedges wear faster and i find it more difficult to control distances on pitches and 3/4 shots. i need the feedback of a harder, more durable metal like my 17-4 stainless steel Tour S wedges heart.gif
